Ok, a few people write about torturing Jesus and HOW they would torture him, so that's why I asked this question. If they'd do that to God, then I was wondering if they would do that to someone who believed in Jesus. I KNOW most people would help someone they found on the road, but really people, a lot of you are posting answers/questions that suggest you to be a completely different person. It's amazing what religion makes people to say...

Do not do to others what you do not like to be done unto you.

Of course I would. It wouldn't even cross my MIND not to help. I would help them even if they were condemning me to Hell while I was doing it. I was also asked once if I came across a person who was dying, and they asked me to perform the rite of baptism, would I? (Anyone can perform the rite of baptism, you just need to say the right words. You don't even have to be a believer.) My response was of course I would.
I've read on here responses to similar questions to Christians where they've said that they would let atheists die and laugh while doing it.
There's hate coming from certain people on all sides of the belief issue.

I don't ask people about their past or their beliefs before rendering aid. I have my doubts that some theists would have the same degree of tolerance or integrity. Why, I'd even push the pope out of the way of a speeding bus!

Heck yeah, after I took their wallet.
If you think that an atheist would let someone die in a ditch, you have them confused with someone who is at war with another religon.
Atheists try to help all of humanity, even people who don't believe the same thing they do, typically.

How on earth would I know they're a Christian unless I know them personally? If I saw ANYONE lying on the side of the road, bloodied up, I'd HELP THEM.

A person's religion or lack of does not determine their willingness to help others. If the positions were reversed, the likelihood of one helping the other would be no different.
People are who they are and religion doesn't change that.

i didnt find a christian 1/2 dead....i found a PERSON 1/2 dead...a HUMAN...do not confuse religion with the goodness of a person deeds or heart
from your sentence it seems like you would rummage the person to see if he/she is a christian b4 lending a hand...
use your humanity to assess...do not bring religion in as an excuse to not do something

[sarcasm]Nah, I'd let my mother, brothers, grandmother, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors just lie there and bleed, too - just because they have religion.[/sarcasm]
Of freaking course I would help them.
As for your example of people having talked about torturing Jesus... I'd have to see the exact comments, but I'd wager it was a joke, and that just as many people would help a human being named Jesus as would help any human being who followed him as a god.

Of course.
The main reason I hate religion is all the pain and misery it inflicts upon the world.
The same concept (hurting=bad, helping=good) applies here too.

I would call 911 and stay with the person until medical and/or police help arrived, and until I knew that next-of-kin had been notified.

I guess it would depend on what he was trying to do!
First Aid certified, I would help. even if it was a christian.
It is the Samaritan thing to do.
(of course, I would guilt trip them mercilessly about their morality forever afterward)
