The country coade for Germany is +049. So to dial straight from your home phone (whatever your long distance rate is) dial 1+049+phone number.

However, this can be quite pricy. I have many friends in Germany and a cheap way to call them. I downloaded from voipstunt.de a calling program. You buy credit for this (say with paypal) then use those credits to make calls. Witht the software, you enter your phone number, then their phone number. When you dial, the website calls your phone, you answer, then it calls their phone an you're connected just as if you had called them! THe cost for this from the US to Germany si FIVE CENTS for a connection- and then unlimited minutes for free. (That is Euro cents, so more like 7 cents US, but still cheap!) Calling a cell phone with this service is more expensive.

you buy a calling card that has germany listed on the back and call the 800 # then they will ask you for the pin # that you have to scratch off with a coin on the back and then it will tell you to enter the person whom you are calling phone # i am only 12 so my dad taught me how to do it

International country code for germany is 049, to dial abroad from the US, you need to dial 011 first. A number in Frankfurt (code 069) like 069 55555 would have to be dialed like this :
01149 69 55555.
(Zeros are left out when they're not at the beginning)
