This is what I have known to be traditional.
Brides family : reception site, reception food, flowers, cake, dress, decorations. limo, photographer and video.
Grooms family: church or officiant fee, alcohol, rehearsal dinner and honeymoon.

Traditionally i've heard the brides family takes care of most of the wedding ceremony costs, not saying the groom can't help out, but it's usually mostly covered by the bride

The bride and groom pay for the wedding. Anything from your family is just a nice bonus :)

Check http://www.theknot.com and there is a section on what people are "traditionally" supposed to pay for.

there is no answer to this .....but i think if you live at home then let your folks if they wont have to refinance their home and cash out their 401k;s to foot the bill for all except groom tux and groom and groomsmen transportation.....
but if you guys live together or you dont live at hoe then if you wanna get married then pay for it at least thats what im doing .....and if your parents start making a humongous list of their friends they want to invite then tell them ok heres what is gonna cost/..............or if you soon to be husbands family can afford it better than yours or you and your fiance can then let them.....there is no traditional is just what you want but
just remember it is your day and is not fair to put your parents in debt just because they traditionally have to pay for it....
plus remember you need to save money and a big wedding will only bring debt into your new marriage

and couples who have been together for hundreds of years and have little debt still fight over it .....so imagine what debt to a new couple can do ......

Traditionally as follows:
Bride and her parents = wedding
Groom and his parents = reception and rehearsal

These days, couples are working, so they pay for their own weddings, and budget accordingly.
