Me and my finocee have been engaged for 4 years now, we have a 20 month old together but arent married yet because we dont have the money for it. We also need to buy new wedding rings ecause his sister stole them and sold them for drugs. His mom has been pushing us to get married and when we told her we couldnt afford it right now she told us to go to the justice of the peace, wich is what we are planning on doing as soon as we get rings and we are jusyt going to have an actual wedding when we can afford it. well his mom is saying we dont need rings. Which would be fine but if im not going to have a wedding i atleast want the rings. Well anyways his sister has been engaged for almost 2 years and are planning a wedding for september, which his mom offered to pay for!! I think that is totally wrong considering we have been together longer, have a child together, and his sister is the reason we arent even married yet.....and his mom is going to pay for her whole wedding...........

And she didnt even offer to pay for the rings HER daughter stole so we could get married. which me and my fioncee dont want anyone to pay for the actual wedding we want to do it ourselves its just she could have atleast offered and we would have said no thanks. But i do think she should pay for the rings since she is the one who wouldnt let me call the cops on her daughter for doing it......am i being totally ridiculous about this whole thing or would you be furious too?????

Oh believe me people I have tried to get her to pay for the rings but she refuses because she says her boyfriend MADE her take them....And his sister even had the nerve to ask me to be in HER wedding!!!

ok that is really messed up.. she stole ur wedding rings. .did u beat her? lol.. newayz yea its wrong u guys have to settle for justice of the peace for right now.... and nothings wrong with that but u cud of had rings right now but ole gurl stole them.. and the girl that stole ur rings is getting to have her wedding paid for but ur mother in law but she wont help yall out? thats really messed up i wud be pissed!

sometimes one sibling is treated better than the other. life isn't fair :(
i'd go and get married at the courthouse. if rings are the only thing holding you back why not consider getting a faux diamond for the time being? www.qvc.com - they have a line called diamonique which looks like real diamonds.
i can understand a part of you wanting a big wedding because the sister is having one paid for. just remember that your child is the most important thing. teach your child to be a good person, and you will see the rewards.
my husband's family has always treated him a little differently due to him being the oldest. they didn't get him xmas gifts for 3 years when he was a teenager, because they "forgot"

first of all i hate when people refer to their kids as being "20 months old" ive even heard ppl say 35 months old! what is that...just say 1 and a half or 2 or something. ugh!
second.... you can get wedding rings as cheap as 20 bucks so dont blame it on the rings. yea the sister stole them but o well how long ago was that?
your mom is prob. paying for the wedding because the sister doesnt have a kid and shes doing it the right way....marriage first kids later......
go to the court and do it already.... stop making excuses....and move far away from there unless u want ur kid growing up to be a lowlife like the rest of the family...
get over it and get married already.....poor kid

Yes its wrong of mom to do that. You should have called the police on the sister for stealing your wedding rings and also for doing drugs.
You can find decent priced wedding rings. Try ebay or craigslist or a pawn shop. If not save up or use your income tax refund on wedding rings.
Don't let her stop you from marrying.
What about talking to your parents?

You don't think you have the money to get married but, I guess that doesnt apply to starting a family!
You've already been a family for four years, go to a JP and make it leagal.
Buy the rings for her for an aniversary gift.
Any wedding will just be some memories that you're going to forget anyway and any pictures are going to collect dust or remind you of "what it isnt" anymore!
Spend your money on the things you both need not on memories your going to forget anyway!
And get a place for yourself and not your sister!

wow that is awful! i'd say if you want to get married run off and dont tell those crazy people anything about it! or go ahead and be in sisters' wedding and when the preacher asks for the rings yell out "Oh no someone stole it"!

I think I would be saying....Ok then, if you are not going to cough up for the rings, I will be going to the cops because at least thru the courts we should be able to pursue some sort of compensation.
They should then pay for them.
What a cow. Users really peeve me, how they take from other people to feed their disgusting habit.

You, your fiance, and your child need to move to an area of the country far away from these people. Your problem is not rings or weddings. It is people who steal for drug money and mothers who support that.

that's very unfair. I completely understand why you don't want to get married yet. I think that you're right it is wrong of his mum. especially seeing his sister stole your rings! you should try and get her to pay you back for the rings she stole.

who cares what his mom thinks get married when you want to i went through the same thing my hubbys sister is a drug addict lost her kids and his parents paid for her wedding 20,000 and gave use sh*it for ours we also just went to the justice of peace i didn't want a big wedding it's a waste of money to me . i'd rather take that money and spend it on my son. goodluck and do not let her get to you sounds like a loser to me
