I went to a salon last week, and I arrived about 10 minutes before my appointment was scheduled for. Another girl comes in about the same time, so I'm guessing she has the same appointment time too. So, we wait for that ten minutes and then I wait another 15 minutes or so until my stylist calls me to get my hair done. However, the other girl is looking pretty peeved when another 15 minutes of waiting go by. Finally, she just gets up and leave without telling her stylist. What would be the right thing to do if more than 5 or 10 minutes go by and your stylist is not explaining what the hold up is?

I would give it about 10 minutes and if no one acknowledged me then I would ask what the hold up is. The answer and attitude would decide whether I stay or leave.

If I had an appt at a hair salon and they did not talk to me about the delay in getting to me I would walk out and do my business elsewhere after 15 minutes past my appointment waiting.

(and actually, at a doctors office, there are signs to notify someone if you have been waiting over 20 minutes for your appointment. if you are in a rush just state that if you are not taken care of in the next 5 minutes you will leave. that usually gets them moving.)

Find a salon that has better business practices, they should have at least spoke to you and the other lady, not just leave you there to rot. I expect to be served at my appointment time, that is why i make an appointment, if not I would be a "walk-in" and wait my turn.

In the situation you described, I would walk out, and tell them that I would NOT be coming in again.

hmm if that ever happened to me and i was kept waiting with no explanation i would be sure to take my business else where. that includes restaurants and any other place where you pay for a service.
