what was it like?

dozens and dozens of times.

you sit back. taxiing on the runway is like riding on a bus. when it's time for takeoff, the engines start to roar and you start down the runway faster and faster. the nose lifts off first, then you're rising into the air. It can be a little scary the first time, but it can be rather exhillarating, too.

The plane may tilt at a steep angle a few minutes up if the plane needs to change direction. No big deal. They you keep climbing. your ears pop, and soon you're up above the clouds (if there are any).

there may be pockets of turbulence; they are generally mild, but even less mild ones are no big deal.

Flying is amazing... When you take off you're hit with an exhilerating feeling as the plane leaves the runway. It almost feels unreal as you climb into the sky, looking at a patchworked landscape below. I especially love flying over the ocean.

Of course you do hit turbulence and the plane can shake a bit, but keep in mind that this is normal and you'll have a great flight!

Travelling first time in airplane is fascinating and for few it is difficult and feel terrorized. But for me it is very enjoyable and you are very far within hours which makes you feel you are powerful!!!!!!!
You may feel pressure in your ears while in the airplane, but it is OK. You can go to bathroom, walk in the airplane and through window seat can see the cities below you. You will feel that cotton is placed on a big glass table when you will be on air. Air travel is really fascinating and thrilling experience at-least for first time.

Yes, I piloted airplanes for many, many years. After a while it's just like driving a car, no big deal.
