Try Craigslist for your area. You can then set the search index to look for 'vw' and 'bug' or 'beetle' (search for them separately as Craigslist doesn't do the "or" command very well).

Convertibles will be hard to find.. (those are really expensive) but you may get lucky. Sedans are easier.

go to www.thesamba.com, find the vehicle you want, and see if you can make an arrangement with a seller. It's worth a shot!
