Collect sets of recipes and use them on regular basis. People waste a lot of money buying grocery items that are used only once or twice.

Use coupons for items that you would purchase without a coupon. ** A coupon isn’t a reason to buy an item.

Shop in the same grocery stores and get to know the people who work in the fresh produce / meat sections. They give you great tips on storing food and the deal of the day. For example, the manager tells me when to come in for the best selection during the week. Buying with quality in mind is also an underlying fact to save money.

Find free programs online and make grocery list. Some offer personalized lists to fit your need. Some reminds you what is running low in your kitchen to save unnecessary grocery trips. ex.

My wife and I generally go once a month with coupons. And every other month we buy meats. That is to say the 1st month we buy non-perishables ( I.e. canned good, dried beans and pasta.). The other month we buy bulk meats and freeze them in baggies. We also cook large portions of soups, stew and the like and freeze them. We make about one weeks worth at a time. We will also "extend" stews by adding in alittle more meat with either pasta or a grain such as rice or barley. We can make $360.00 last almost 3 months this way. 180.00 each month and still have food left over on the shelf for storm season. I live in Florida and that time is fast approaching. I have enough to hold my family of 3 over for almost 2 weeks if need be. And that doesn't include what would be used out of the freezer 1st.

Buy off brand stuff. Most of the stuff is just as good as name brand. I use coupons for my hair care products and toilet trees.Buy meats once a month and buy by bulk. Like one big bag of chicken and a tray of hamburger meat. Pasta and rice are good starches and are cheap. You can stock up on pasta's, cereals and rice another week. Then fresh and canned veggies. Just take like 30 bucks or less depending on your family size and do this each week or you can combine some items as you see fit for you. I have a family of 5 and we can spend 60 per week on groceries(food only). Shampoo, cleaning items and toilet trees I buy once a month and usually spend 20 to 25 bucks on that stuff. If it's only you you should be able to spend alot less. Maybe 30 to 40 per week in a 3 week period. Even less than that if you keep on it and cook what you buy don't go spending alot of money on take out. Good luck!

If you mean by being able to have a sufficient amount of money to buy groceries, then I think I can help you. What I like to do is keep a jar, and every week split my money so half of it goes in the jar. The rest I use for spending on other things. When you need to buy groceries, take out the amount you need, or all of it if you like, and go out to buy them. Just try to remember that the jar is for your grocery money only. Hope this helps!!

Plan your meals ahead. Make a list and stick to it. Clip coupons. And remember, just because it's bulk doesn't mean it's cheaper. Bring a calculator with you and figure it out. Also, going do different grocery stores can save money, but not if you have to drive out of your way. It's not worth saving .20cents on Oreos if you have to drive 4 miles to another store to get them.
And yeah, you can buy "off brand" things that are still just as great. But let me tell you, I bought generic Nilla Wafers and they were awful! It's usually ok though.

Clip cupouns and you dont always have to buy name brand foods. The store brand can be just as good. Dont go to the store hungry when you go shopping for groceries you end up buying things that look good to you because your hungry therefore ending up with food you dont need. Set a budget for groceries and set certain times of the week to go grocery shopping.

Okay, for one you can cut out coupons, two you can always buy the off brand, i don't know if you ever realized this but right beside of the brand name stuff there is always a container that is marked up very similar to its more expensive neighbor and usually is shaped the exact same way. this is the exact same product just without the fancy name. this will give you the same flavor and save you bucks in the long run.

If you have a big lots in your area..go there first before hitting up your grocery store especially if you have kids. I can spend $30 bucks and fill up a shopping cart in can foods, cereals, snacks, drinks and so on. Then I will go to the grocery store..Ralphs with my coupons. They do double coupons plus they have their discounted store card you swipe on top of that.

I can get about 3 weeks of good food for about $100 bucks.

I always buy the store brand and use coupons. Make a menu for the week or month and make a list of the things you will need for that week. If you stick to the list, you won't impulse buy. I never buy certain items like cereal unless they are on sale because it's ridiculously high. I mean, $5 for a box of cereal that will be gone in a week??? I don't think so!
