I'm trying to get in better shape for prom, just lose a few pounds here and there. I usually jog 2 miles a day, but I think I can do better, but I'm not sure what to set my goals at. Also, to get better abs, what workouts should I do? I need mostly lower ab workouts.

dont count miles - count time doing cario which has to be over 30min to lose weight.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food

Do sit-ups...old school sit-ups are great.
2 miles is good. Increase the distnace by half a mile or so each week or two/three days.
Last...eat healthy. Fatty junk food will just keep your weight at a stand still-even if you are exercising.

First of all, I don't suggest jogging. You may be able to do more in less time, but jogging is bad for your knees and isn't as beneficial as walking. Surprisingly, walking can help you lose more weight then running. Also be sure to eat healthy. Don't skip breakfast either.

Go dancing! That is the funnest way to get abs in shape.
