presbyterians, like most protestants, hold to the 5 solas of the reformation.
Sola gratia ("by grace alone")
Sola fide ("by faith alone")
Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone")
Solus Christus ("Christ alone")
Soli Deo gloria ("Glory to God alone")
while Roman Catholics would hold to some of these they would not agree with Sola fide and Sola scriptura.
another difference is in how salvation is applied to the believer. The RCC's belief is that in Christs atonement (a satisfactory sacrafice) merits of Grace are stored up, then are distributed through the sacraments. In this way Christs rightousness is infused within the believer.
protestants believe that Christ rightousness has been imputed by Gods grace through faith in Christ alone.
But, also remember both traditions hold to the same essentials. unified by the creeds of the early eccumenicial councels. Nicea, Constantinople, Chalsadon, Orange, etc...
All would agree we are saved by Gods grace alone.
this is just one area but probably the most divisive.
hope this helps

The Presbyterians - one who accepted Calvinist teachings about church government with rule by synods of lay elders and ministers replacing bishops, as, for xample, in the Church of Scotland. The English Presbyterians in the 17th century were not as rigid as the Scots. In the 1640s, the word came to have a political useage, meaning a conservative and moderate Puritan opponent of the Crown.
The Catholics - the first organized religion of Christians founded upon the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Apostle Peter being the first Pope. The lines of succession are Bishps, Priests and Deacons. Catholics believe Christ is truly present in the Eucharist. We believe in God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. All Protestant religions came about as a result of Catholicism.

Presbyterians are protestants.
There are several very important differences between Catholics and Protestants. While there have been some attempts over the last several years to find common ground between the two groups, the fact is that the differences remain, and they are just as important today as they were at the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. Following is brief summary of some of the more important differences.
One of the first major differences between Catholicism and Protestantism is the issue of the sufficiency and authority of Scripture. Protestants believe that the Bible alone is the sole source of God’s special revelation to mankind, and as such it teaches us all that is necessary for our salvation from sin. Protestants view the Bible as the standard by which all Christian behavior must be measured. This belief is commonly referred to as “Sola Scriptura” and is one of the “Five Solas” (sola being Latin for “alone”) that came out of the Protestant Reformation as summaries of some of the important differences between Catholics and Protestants.
Another major but closely related difference between Catholicism and Protestantism is over the office and authority of the Pope.
A third major difference between Catholicism and Protestantism is how one is saved.Another of the “Five Solas” of the reformation was “Sola Fide” (faith alone), which affirms the biblical doctrine of justification by grace alone through faith alone because of Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-10). However, according to Roman Catholicism, man cannot be saved by faith alone in Christ alone. They teach that the Christian must rely on faith plus “meritorious works” in order to be saved.
