It depends on what it is. Most of the time when I want something I wait for 48 hours before I buy it or attempt to get it. If 48 hours pass and I still desire something I have a talk with God and ask him if I really need it. Psalm 37:4 says
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
