Why is it that (some) people make these ridiculous statements and believe in their religion without any questioning or any thought. It’s like they just can't think for themselves and so recite verses from their holy book (what ever book that might be).
I really don't mind someone having their beliefs once they really can speak for themselves
And why are these same people speak with such certainty-It's a belief, not a certainty
Further more who is responsible for these people (because they aren't capable of being responsible for themselves).
Is it their local clergy, I suppose it is in the "institution’s" interests to keep these people ignorant.
Once again I respect people's beliefs (no mater what they are).
Liberated, enlightened people only please

digilusionist- no Christian believes without questioning and so on! do you know EVERY Christian?
And another thing: take a long hard look at my question again, notice how I say "I really don't mind someone having their beliefs" and then repeated myself by saying "Once again I respect people's beliefs (no mater what they are)." so like I've said twice and I'm saying it AGAIN I have no problem with some believing in whatever they want.
wrenchintheworks-People you believe if their religion can be liberated and enlightened may not believe in it but I still respect their beliefs. I'm referring to the mindless sheep you can't even have a proper discussion with
Mrs Badgrumbles- I don't look down on people who believe in their faith. I simply question why SOME of these people don't actually come to these conclusions themselves

"Why is it that (some) people make these ridiculous statements and believe in their religion without any questioning or any thought."
What does religion have to do with it? There are plenty of atheists who don't take the time to question their beliefs, either.
"It’s like they just can't think for themselves and so recite verses from their holy book (what ever book that might be)."
Again, the same holds true for a great deal of atheists as well. For them, Darwin (or Haeckel or Miller) said it, they believe it and that settles it.
"And why are these same people speak with such certainty-It's a belief, not a certainty."
Unlike those thousand and one responses to any question that begins with "Why didn't God...?" that more or less amount to "Because he doesn't exist." No certainty there.
"Once again I respect people's beliefs (no mater what they are).
Liberated, enlightened people only please."
You respect their beliefs, you just don't think they're liberated or enlightened because of them?
For once and for all, let's cut the double standard. For all their preening and strutting about what "free thinkers" they are, there are those atheists who no less blindly accept their beliefs than the religionists they mewl about. On the other hand, there are those who make it a practice to challenge their beliefs and yet still think that the preponderance of the evidence favors the existence of God. (And while we're at it, let's put to rest the myth that all respected and credible scientists accept evolution. Granted, a majority of them do, but truth is not determined by counting noses, but by assessing evidence.)

Blind faith is ignorance. People are entitled to believe in what they want but all mainstream religions preach of a tolerance of others which seems to get overlooked sometimes. To me religion gets too complicated. I can't understand why people can't live their life with values i.e. be respectful, be courteous, be trustworthy, be happy, be loving etc etc. for me you don't need to learn these traits and values from a book they should come naturally. I understand that some people need the extra confidence that having someone "watch over them" gives them. Fair enough. But as far as I can see too many people use religion as an excuse to preach and take the moral high ground. Using it as a self-gratifying tool instead of the self-analysing tool I think it should be.

It's funny, I tend to agree with you here but you say you respect peoples beliefs no matter what they are and then you ask for liberated and enlightened people only to answer.
Seems a tad hypocritical.
So heres what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go over to Politics and see whats happening there.

Bravo!!!!!!! At last, someone that is using his brains. That's very true. People make statements based on what their hear from others but without verifying the information. In most of the cases, because their own "religious" leaders do not encourage the studies on the subject. Of course, those "religious" leaders know that their religious business is in jeopardy. But, most people are lazy believers, whatever anybody else says it's fine and true, as long as they don't have to search by themselves.

You said it they are blind so they can't see where they are headed. Fascism. These people are in fact responsible for their own actions. Pray that they can see or think good thoughts toward them whatever it is you practice. They are in need of it. Can we agree that we should help those in need no matter what we believe religiously? Close mindedness is not a fruit of the Spirit.

Thinking your better than others is never an attractive trait. You mention the SOME, THEM, THEY, PEOPLE. You seem to be very interested in other people and being critical of them. Perhaps you should change your self and stop trying to find fault with everyone else. Ummm or are you perfection personified I wonder. You must be the only person in the world with the capability of individual thought. Mwha ha ha ha>>>> falls of pedestal.
One small part I agree with in this question.

I believe atheists have brainwashed themselves into believing religious are brainwashed by our clergy. Christians, Muslims, etc. are not as Orwellian as most people imagine, atheists took the concept that "all religious people are home schooled hillbillies" and ingrained this notion into the heads of atheists. Is there some truth to ignorance, You bet, however, keeping the people ignorant "for their own good" is only really implied in radical religious sects.

Blind? Easily lead? surely that is the way of the world, to be a Christian, with a true relationship with the living God, thats eyes wide open, yes lead by Jesus, not the ways of this world, the easy path is not the one that leads to Jesus, easy street leads to certain death.
