I am very worried about my cat Toddy. He's a black shorthaired cat. He's always been thin looking, vet checked him out a while ago for his weight but said he's fine.i stayed away for a night and left him lots of food and water.came back noticed he looked a bit fatter(just thought it was all the food he'd eaten)he drinks a lot of water everyday(he didn't used to)and he never goes out anymore. He generally seems a happy cat though, always purrs, sits on my lap, follows me around the house.tonight my dad came over and said he may have a tumor or something.I will take him to a vet but tonight i am worried sick.i suppose he looks like he's carrying an airbag in both sides but his back is still skinny&i can feel his ribs. He's eating fine & is acting normal,I've noticed his poo smells very strong though.I feed him wiskas pouches in gravy&jelly.please anyone know what this could be?

Hi!
May I ask, is Whiskas Pouches all you feed him, or does he eat dry food as a general rule?
Pouches do make the poo smell bad! So that is the reason for that.....
Also, as you went away overnight, does that mean you left him lots of wet food and no dry? I'm just concerned that leaving wet food out all day and night may have caused it to go off, as you are ideally supposed to clean it up after an hour if he hasn't eaten it.
I've got a hunch that he may have roundworm. This stops them from putting weight on, but makes their stomach look swollen.
It could also be of course that wolfed his food down too quickly whist you were gone and now has trapped wind. Or he could still have all that food still inside him. He may not have paced himself whilst you were gone!
Take him to the vet first thing tomorrow and perhaps mention the roundworm thing, it's better to bring it up in case the vet doesn't think of it - although I'm sure they will.
Good luck, I hope he will be ok.

Please just take him back to the vet. Just because they didn't think anything was wrong last time doesn't mean that's it! Owners often notice problems first before signs are apparent to others as they know the animal best. Anyway, the cat is clearly pretty sick now so a vet is your best bet I'm afraid. No one on here can diagnose or treat I'm afraid!
Is he wormed by the way? That would be the simplest explanation. Does sound worse though. Note - whiskas not generally the best food.

I would for sure take him back to the vet but maybe he is just getting lazy in his old age... lol i have a 10 year old cat and i know she has been gaining weight lately but its because she isnt as active as before. Hopefully it's nothing to serious... good luck!

It could be something simple like worms. If left untreated they make the stomach swell while the animal loses weight. Are his inner eyelids showing more as well as this can indicate worms.
Good luck at the vets!

Some pouches were recalled. Check the list and make sure your pets food isn't on it.

Your cat may just be not felling good. If the vet has nothin good to say then give him a few days then he should be better. if not give me some more info. Like his age because older cats dont eat alot. or his teeth might heryt or something
