The dashboard has peeled up right by where the defroster vents are by the front windshield. And by peeled up, I mean it has literally warped so it looks like someone peeled it up like a banana peel, and now the end of it sticks straight up in the air about 3 - 4 inches. I've never seen anything like it.
It's long out of warranty, but I'm just wondering if this is a common problem with these cars.

Common issue that Ford had came up with a panel to install on the dashboard for that condition. However I think you can't even find that part anymore and it's one of those try to find the piece and hope you can trim enough dash to install it without looking like a eye sore or live with it.

My '97 Taurus peels up on my side of the dash, right over the instrument cluster. I punch it down, but it comes up again later.
It's just an annoyance.

Common. There was a recall to either fix or replace the dash.

We have had 2 2000 models. They all do it.

My friend has the same problem with his contour...must be something with the construction

We've parted out a bunch of those cars,they all do it.
