The original reason for sacrifice was that the wages or price for committing sin is death. Basically, if you sinned, someone or something had to die.
He became the Ultimate sacrifice so that there would never be a need for human or animal sacrifice again. It was an intentional sacrifice. Jesus knew that He was going to be arrested, yet He waited in the Garden of Gasthemene (sp?). He could have ran away and hid, but He didn't.

Jesus did not condemen sacrifice but fufilled it as sacrifice was an example of the atonement he did provide.
If youa re asking why Jesus atoned for sin it is because it was necessary if man kind was to be reunited with a righteous God. The sacrifice of animals were shadows of the atonement which was to come. Man could not live up to the law of God and as such the wages of sin is death, God is a righteous God he does not pretend man is righteous but brings man to his righteousness by paying the penalty of death for those who accept his atonement.

He condoned it before He came to earth. Sacrificing pointed to Jesus's death on the cross, the spotless lamb to be slain because of our sins, Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice, by dying He did away with sacrificing so that we could talk directly to Jesus instead of always having to sacrifice a burnt offering, and going to the Jewish Priest. Sacrifices pointed forward to His death.

Jesus followed all the rules of being Jewish but He changed a lot of things concerning rituals like eating Kosher and sacrifices of animals..He became the sacrificial lamb and took the place of these sacrifices...but Jesus was a Jew and follower the Jewish religion when He walked on this earth as a man..

well I don't know about the Qu'ran, but Jesus (Christ) was the fulfillment of the old covenant and the bringer of the new, therefore nullifying animal sacrifice by the payment of His own Blood. Human sacrifice was never allowed.

The Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) did not sacrifice himself for anthing, but it was made to look so. even early Christians aruged this, they did not belive it was Jesus (PBUH) who was crucufied, GOD would never humuliate his messenger in such a way, GOD answers prayers and he answered Jesus's (PBUH) prayer for saving him from the traps the kaffirs set for him, every human is responsible for his/her actions & sins, no human lays its life for another human to eredicate their sins, it just DONT make sense like that, why wud anyone sacarafice themselves so the next human can be sin free, it dont make sense man, its all about an individual being responbile for their actions (sins). PEACE.
