Yes I know its for your money, but also to have a people behind the "mad government", a financial support to their agenda!!

Its weird, its seems like you have the smartest and...the most consuming-orientated people on earth.
I would just like to point out that the Rockfellers and Hitler were doing business together in the late 30's.
Just something that started me thinking about the whole global conspiracy thing...

2007-04-25 10:45:49 · update #3

Well yes, the gov., oil companies, big businesses etc.. control the media, to keep you in fear basically, which will draw you away from responsability and toward consuming!!!

Yes, I know that. I used to be a Journalist. But I gave it up 20 years ago and finally got honest work. ;-)

Most Americans don't know that, however. We keep 'em stupid with a fodder of American Idol, Ballroom Dancing, Donald Trump and TV Wrestling; whereas 30 years ago it was Fantasy Island, Love Boat, Dallas, Dynasty, and yes, TV Wrestling!

Much the same as the Brits do-- it's like the difference between our foods, only slightly different, but it's the same ol' sh!t once it's been digested.

It's like we've got Weird Al Yankovitch, and you lot in Australia have Mic Conway. Same difference, pretty much-- doesn't Rupert Murdoch control your media down in Oz like Ted Turner controls ours over here? It's the same the whole world over. There's spin in South African TV, and in Lebanese TV and Russian TV and Thai TV. Either the Government controls the Media, or it's some piggy-fat Capitalist who's working hand-in-glove with them. You can choose the Sock Puppet on the Left, or the Sock Puppet on the Right. The puppet-master is the same for both, and it's just a Punch and Judy show, just like it's been all along. Goes back to the days of Rome you know: Keep the rabble preoccupied with cheap bread and free circuses, and nobody will pay much attention to anything else.

This is true to a certain degree, but throughout the world anyone can choose to be a follower or a someone who thinks outside the box with common sense on their own.

I have not lived in other countries except America, but I would believe that any government that wants to maintain control over its people will feed them rubbish, etc. IT's up to the individual person to either believe any old thing, or say to themselves "Hmmm, this just doesn't make any sense".

Much of the time people try to follow each other and trends. I have never been that way and don't go along with something just because it's "easier".

Interesting questions, but by far not only limited to Americans though there is a lot of garbage in America. I wonder where Armageddon will strike first.

You're absolutely right. If you get it where you live, watch American news sometime: It's good for a laugh. There's nary a mention of anything in any other country unless it directly relates to us. Thank goodness for bbc.com! Americans never seem to know what our own government is doing. I think about half the country still believes that Iraq perpetrated 9/11! Disgusting. When someone from outside the US asked here what Americans think of Guantanamo, the most common answer (I wish I were kidding) was "Isn't that in Cuba?"
At the moment, I am very ashamed of my country. Hopefully it will get better soon. I think the wool is starting to fall off.
FYI: Yes, I am an American, native born, lived here my whole life.

Who or what in America is keeping its people ignorant? The media? The government? The teachers?

And of what current events are we being kept ignorant? Why are your sources more reliable?

If your going to give us a conspiracy theory, you'll need to at least give us some vague details.

I've lived in Europe too BTW.

I am an American who has a British husband. I do not watch American news to keep up with current events because I do not find it to be anywhere near as accurate as European sources for reporting world news. Usually I will watch the BBCnews.

It's been my experience that we (americans) enjoy our ignorance.

I went vegetarian over 12 years ago. I began reading about the horrors of the animal industry. Genetic engineering of food.

People just don't want to hear it. If they hear it they might have to take responsibility. Which they don't want. They prefer to remain ignorant and do nothing.

Yesterday I brought up genetically engineered fish in our ice cream. No one wanted to hear it. They called me a liar.

Here is an article that makes it sound like it's GREAT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/26/dining/26cream.html?ex=1311566400&en=58d327aa2c5b288f&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss

The Counter Punch article:
http://www.counterpunch.org/reidhead12212006.html

And more horror. HUMAN genes in RICE????
http://www.organicconsumers.org/ge/humangene042505.cfm

But people would rather remain ignorant, get sick and die.

With the advent of technology if anyone in the world is ignorant it is their own fault. I believe the average American knows what they wish to. Why don't you visit if you want first hand information? And by the by I would not walk up to the Average American and tell them they are ignorant. We maybe opinionated but we are fairly friendly. And speaking for myself hardly ignorant.

There is a difference between cause and correlation, and you have established neither. What exactly has caused you to hold this opinion?

I have seen any number of American folks who participate here, and while I disagree with many of them, I find them to be intelligent and well-informed about many things.

If you have evidence to the contrary, by all means, please submit a link to a credible source.

You are quite right. That's a large reason of why I'd love to move to Europe or Australia.

i have to wonder, since you don't live in America, how you know we are ignorant? are you one of the people who believes America invaded Iraq for their water? because i know that there are European people who believe that and that is ignorance because it is just ridiculous. and i have to wonder what we are ignorant about? with the internet you can find out whats happening almost anywhere in the world and you cant control the internet.
