If you want to know what Australia is best known for, you'd have to just look at her postage stamps. Here you'd see what makes the country tick.
Strange wildlife -- kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, platypuses, and lyre birds, kookaburras (a king of kingfisher).
Strange flowers -- wattle, Sturt's desert pea, kangaroo paw, waratah, banksia and lots of other wild flowers not found anywhere else in the world.
Minerals: opals, gold, copper, and others.
A desert landscape, with the oddest town ever called Coober Pedy which has underground homes and one chapel.
Agriculture. Fruits are big and sweet. Apples, pears and oranges. And persimmons, plums, peaches...
Grapes are well known and Australian wines have high standing world-wide.
Further north, we get a more tropical climate and you can actually get pineapples, custard apples and avocadoes and other such tropical fruits.
If this is a school essay, you need to be more indepth to talk about the history and people in Australia. Read up on Captain James Cook's ship "Endeavour' and Botany Bay. Early settlers were convicts or the outcasts of society who were not wanted in their European countries. It was from such hardy pioneer stock that Australians were descended.
Find out where the capital is and what the national flower is, and national anthem. Surprise, surprise! It is not Sydney, kangaroo paw or Waltzing Matilda! But Canberra, wattle and Advance Australia Fair.
That's just an outline, giving you names and places that you can google and find out more.
