Look at the box for side effects. Benadryl makes me really tired. Please, contact your doctor their may be something he can prescribe that doesn't have that effect. And please don't drive while on it.

If by loopy, you mean drowsy or sleepy, yes, some brands can. Benadryl is one of the older drugs used for allergies, but there are newer ones on the market that probably have fewer side-effects. Singular and Zyrtec are two of the newer brands. Both are good for indoor and outdoor allergies. Check with your doctor or pharmacist to see if either of those would be a better alternative than Benadryl. However, I must warn you that they are much more expensive, since they haven't been on the market long enough for drug companies to produce a generic form.

Claritin is the over the counter option that wont cause drowsiness.

Prescription options for allergies include Allegra, Zyrtec and Clarinex. These are all less likely to cause drowsiness.

Every medication affects different people different ways. With any medication, it is best to try it out for a few doses, so you can see how it affects you. Then, once you know it doesn't cause drowsiness in you, you can use it as directed.

Benadryl does because of the antihistamine. I take Claritin OTC because it doesn't cause drowsiness plus I have high blood pressure and that's the one I was advised I could take.

Depends on the person and the dosage. Usually sleepiness is the major symptom. Do you get loopy when you're sleepy? If so, then yes.
