Yes. Especially if you are 12 and he is 20.
It gets less as you get older. Say 22 and he's 30. But really, you are a different generation from each other and therefore may not be able to relate unless one of you is either more mature than normal or say more immature than normal.

Yes it matters if you're not of legal age yet. If you're not, he could get into really big trouble. However, as you get older (I'm talkin, in your 20s, 30s 40s and so on), you notice that the age difference isn't really a factor as long as you two have alot in common.

Prob depends on your age...
Most guys like younger women.. but he probably scared of something going wrong and dosent want to be locked up for rape (statutory) if your under 18.
Pus you have to understand there are people who have made it who have more than 8 years seperating them, but maybe hes just not into it... because 8 years is a big difference maturity wise...

it depends on how old you are. If you are 15 & he is 26, then it is illegal. Also, sometimes when you are at different stages in life its hard to have a relationship. Or maybe he just doesn't like you.

if your over 18 then it shouldn't be a big problem but if not then he's just avoiding jail time which is right
