I was recently invited to a bridal shower. I don't know the person hosting the party. Anyway, she sent e-mail invitations out - I thought it was a little tacky, but then thought maybe I'm just old fashioned (which I guess means I getting old - uhhh!). What do you think about e-mailing invitations? Or I am really just getting old??

I think they are fine as long as the sender knows that the person actually checks their email. This would not work for either an old person or someone I know who is young but just hates computers. I respond to email invitations all the time. I have one friend that throws a party every few months. I joined a language club that does its events mainly via email. A good deal of what we pay in dues goes to pay for postage to alert those who won't maintain an email account.

Email will save time, use no paper and allow easy access for responses.

No way! E-mail invitations are okay for a child's birthday or a Super Bowl party or something but NOT for a bridal shower! You're right, it's tacky. A bridal shower is an old-fashioned (and a little out-dated) concept, and therefore deserves old-fashioned paper invitations. It is okay to hand deliver them instead of mailing, or to email someone to request their address for the inviation. Unless every guest was born after 1985, an email inviation is not okay.

I think sending email invitations to a bridal shower are ok. As long as those without emails get invitations too.

Its a new age of using email for everything and it doesn't cost a cent to send them out OR send a reply.

I wouldn't have a problem with the invitation via email.

I recently sent email invites out for my daughters 3rd birthday party from the evites website. It was great because everyone could respond and also leave comments. That way everyone knew who would be there and who wouldn't. I got a lot of compliments and it saved me a lot of time!

you are getting old. alot of younger folks dont even know how to mail stuff these days. evites and online invitations are normal and acceptable nowadays to everyone except the old who dont have experience with it. ask yourself this question if you think its tacky, why should you have to spend the money to print and address stuff to a person when online works just as well. also in keeping with people's efforts to be more conservationist in approach, sending evites saves paper.

It is ok.......we are in the pc's era..
We have to live according with the times.
Things change, and we have to change with them
If are informal invitations .....then is fine to send them that way.
But of course, you dont know the person, so may be the mail went wrongly to you.

Tacky.
Don't blame the bride though. Showers are usually handled by the MOH. If you know the bride then go.

It's the new age of communicating, I wouldn't worry about it, it's maybe not how you would invite people.......but I think it's OK
