How does Winston sound for a male Basset hound puppy? I chose the name Winston after John Lennon's orginal middle name.

I think Winston is a perfect name. I, unlike some others, do not think of cigarettes, guess cause I have never smoked. Anywho, I can picture your dog in my head and Winston suits perfectly!!! Congrats on the new puppy!!

That's really cute. It will definetly go good for a Basset Hound! Names are also always better when there is a story behind them.

I like your research, but you may want to shorten that. The name Winston makes me think of cigarettes, and I personally wouldn't want my dog to be named after cigarettes!
However, the name is original and cute!
Good luck with your puppy!

That is a great name! Especially because it is best to name dogs two syllable names, so that their name is not confused with commands and punishment (like no or sit).

Good name- very distinguished, or can be shortened to Winnie for short, for a more playful nickname.
