Yes, pretty much.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends living here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother living in heaven to pray for you.

Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.

And prayer to the saints is optional not required.

With love in Christ.

Why do they pray to mary and too other saints when the bible clearly states there dead.

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die." Ezekiel 18:20. "Every living soul died in the sea." Revelation 16:3.

According to God's Word, souls do die! We are souls, and souls die. Man is mortal (Job 4:17). Only God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:15, 16). The concept of an undying, immortal soul goes against the Bible, which teaches that souls are subject to death.

"All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth." John 5:28, 29. "David ... is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day." "For David is not ascended into the heavens." Acts 2:29, 34. "If I wait, the grave is mine house." Job 17:13.

people do not go either to heaven or hell at death. They go to their graves to await the resurrection day. King David will be saved in God's kingdom. However, he is in his grave now, where he awaits the resurrection.

But can't the dead communicate with the living, and aren't they aware of what the living are doing?

"So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep." "His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them." Job 14:12, 21. "Neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:6.

The dead cannot contact the living, nor do they know what the living are doing. They are dead. Their thoughts have perished (Psalms 146:4).

I'm still waiting for the verse that tells me we need to pray to the saints and the day we have to confess to the priest.

Here is the ball game in the Catholic Hierarchy.
God the Father.
No one gets to the Father except through Jesus
No one gets to Jesus now unless one goes to Mother Mary
St. Joseph has special dispensation who can go directly to the Father.
Lately one is to call one Saint to get the attention of Mother Mary to call on Jesus so he'll go to the Father.
Now Saints are also given specialty works to offer what kind of service each petitioner should ask but still have to pass to Mother Mary.
Some petitions gets filtered before it goes to the Father and the same thing happens back from the Father to the petitioner. The favor either comes to the petitioner late or it was wrongly given to somebody who does not really need it. That is what we call luck for that somebody.
You may find it easier to go to St. Joseph but he is already retired and he may already be basking under the sun in Tuscany. Also try to update your connections since some saints have already been removed in the service.

God does not answer prayers based on who is praying. God answers prayers based on whether they are asked according to His will (1 John 5:14-15). There is absolutely no basis or need to pray to anyone other than God alone. There is no basis for asking those who are in Heaven to pray for us. Only God can hear our prayers. Only God can answer our prayers. No one in Heaven has any greater access to God's throne that we do through prayer (Hebrews 4:16).

Classic Catholic Prayer " Mother Mary I believe, without sin thou dist conceive, Mother Mary Still believing, Help me sin without conceiving!" Yuppers, U got it right! Praying to man made "Idols" in the Catholic church is Ok cause like they don't have to keep Deuteronomy 5:1-10 which says; "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and fourth generation of those who reject me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments!" cause they know the Pope!!! Saints were also taken from the Roman pagan system...used to be gods...then rome stuck a cross in the middle of their pagan system and said "ta da! we're Catholics now!"

Its an evil system and thats all that matters. Encourage as many as possible to leave.

Yeah, but the problem is St. Paul said "There is one intercessor between God and man ,and that is Christ Jesus".
I'd sure hate to call Paul a liar.
