I used to drive a Chevy Lumina and had no problems with my blind spot, but now I have a smaller car "Yaris" my blind spot is larger. I have adjusted so I can just see the end of my car. Is this best?

The passenger side needs to barely see the side of the car at the rear. I have a small convex mirror in my left side mirror to extend the vision outward towards the end of the next lane. You have to get used to it but its worth it. I have see convex mirrors that attach below the mirror as well. I drive a truck so I am used to checking two mirrors on each side.

Since you posed this question, I have a simple solution. Buy a blind-spot mirror. This tiny mirror is mounted to the drive side mirror on the lower right side with included double sided tape. Should cost around $2.00 or so.
When sitting in your car (and stationary) adjust the car mirror the way you want it. The blind-spot mirror will show more road and allow you to see a car that would otherwise be in your blind-spot when you are driving.
Hope this helps you!!!

Basic rule: Always adjust your mirrors so that when you are sitting as you would while driving, you see only what you see in the outside edges of the inside mirror, on the inside edges of the outside mirrors. That way you have maximum coverage.

If you can see your rear corners in the side view mirrors, you are probably seeing a lot of what you see in the inside mirror. Then there are probably a couple of blind spots that don't show up in any mirror just over your shoulders. What's the point of having three mirrors if you see some of the same thing in two of them?

And never rely only on your mirrors.

In your normal driving position, have someone else adjust your side mirrors so that you can just see the tail corner of your car on the inside edge of your mirrors. If you still have a blind spot, use one of those stick-on wide angle spot mirrors to compensate.
