Hey, not all guys. I'm a guy and I do not prefer the skinny almost unhealthy look at all. Actually, what I prefer is a happy, nice person regardless of looks. Looks can and will change for everyone. A good happy personality usually doesn't.

Men only know what they see, what they have been taught. It is programmed into them from fathers and from friends, and acceptable beauty standards in the world today.
Healthy women only get a few glances but toothpick stick women get their pick of any fool stupid enough to find them attractive.
A healthy medium is most important for healths sake.
I mean I am not Calista Flockheart, but I take care of myself.
I think that anorexic stick women and obese women are unattractive, but they can do something about it.
So I feel that women in the fit category should get more attention. If someone really loves their true self it does not matter what anyone else thinks...and confidence in a woman is the most attractive quality.

Laura, it ain't necessarily so. True, guys are visually stimulated but usually want things they can never have. It's like the candy store. They live in a false reality, get jobs in advertising telling us what is good for us with a thin model as the spokesperson and we buy into it. It is the epitome of the beauty myth. If a woman has a 2 cent brain, her body is useless.

From an evolutionary standpoint, it pays to be thin because thin is associated with physical fitness. The ability to stay healthy, survive, and pass your genes onto healthy offspring.

In society, though, we've developed absurd standards and think the thinner, the better. We see airbrushed models on the covers of Victoria's Secret and have unrealistic ideas of what beauty is. The media is largely responsible for causing women to strive for unhealthy and impossible standards, and causing men to seek out that sort of thing.

It's true that many men are vain and prioritize physical appearance, but many others can see the inner beauty in women and appreciate non-superficial qualities, like personality and charm.

i dont think all guys are like that but the media has some men brainwashed into thinking in order for a woman to be desirable she has to be a size 4 when in reality most of the women in those magazines are airbrushed and made up so well if you saw them on the streets you wouldnt recognize them. and its a known fact that the average real woman is a size 14. so if there are some men who believe the hype then thats there own ignorance.

Just because someone admires a thin woman, doesn't mean they won't consider dating anyone else...there are some good looking men on stage and screen, that have really nice bodies, but that doesn't mean I only date guys with athlete's physiques...y'know?

Men don't "only" like thin women...if that were true, none of the fat girls I know, who are in relationships, would currently be dating or married.

Because society has brain washed them into thinking that any one over a size 12 is fat. And that society as a whole makes you think that thin is the way to be, and if you're not a size 0 then there must be something wrong with you. Why do you think so many young girls have eating disorders?? Because some guy dumped her because he told her she was too fat. It's sad, but true.

It's marketing that's caused men to think this way.

I do agree, but it's not all guys. They should learn Never Judge A Book By It's Cover. But, I guess thats their expectation. That happened to me. Well I'm average, and not fat or skinny. But, at school when I was walking in the halls, there was these 2 guys staring at me and I over heard them talk, they were like Yeah She's cute, but fat. I was angry, because I'm not fat. I hope the same problem does not happen to you.

Actually, my boyfriend doesn't prefer thin women. He thinks they look malnourished. He's with me, a size 16, and loves me very much. I've always been a fleshy girl, even when I was a size 10 and he's always loved me. Many guys find curves sexy. I know almost all of my guy friends would prefer a curvy woman over a stick.

It's a wrong assumption to think that all men like thin women. There's different men in the world: who might be beautiful to one guy is ugly to another.
