Kind of throws any reasonable and/or logical arguments for religion out the window...huh?

1) God knows everything because he exists outside of time. he can see all we have done and will do at the exact same time. He knows what we will do. But he also knows we do so of our own free will.

2) the purpose of hell is to punish us for our mortal sins. It is similar (or at least as close as one might get) to the death penalty in our world. If someone does something dreadful enough, the country/state/whatever punishes them by executing them. Granted, the difference being we could make a mistake and God would not. Which is why so many religious leaders speak out against the death penalty.

He also gives us methods for repenting. For asking for forgiveness. We on earth do this through fines, jail time or other methods. God does it in various other ways. Hell, Purgatory and punishments on earth (as some believe in their own way).

Hope that helps.

Good luck, and God bless.

The purpose of hell was only for Satan and the fallen angels that follow him in his rebellion against God. Now if we commit even one sin , only one sin is the same as a murder or a rapist that commit various sins.. Only if we repent and ask God for forgiveness then we can escape hell.

Yes, if there is an omniscient God who punishes people eternally for simply not believing he exists, then God is the most sadistic thing of which I could ever conceive.

a) Omniscient God creates certain humans KNOWING that they will not believe in him.

b) Omniscient God eternally punishes these humans whom he created KNOWING ALL ALONG that they would not believe in him.

c) These humans have NO CHOICE to do anything other than what God ALREADY KNOWS they will do (e.g., "choose" not to believe in him) because if they could choose to act differently than God "knew" they would act, God would not be omniscient.

That's not a God to me, that's a sadist. And definitely not anything worth worshipping.

Of course God knew we would sin. That is why He instituded Sacrifice for forgivness of our sins. He also sent His Son Christ as the Final & Perfect Sacrifice for our sins. But Sin is not the Issue! The Issue is belief in Christ. Having Free Will, God knew many would NOT choose Christ & so He had to have a seperated place for those who do not believe, so he created Hell as a storage locker for eternity!!! John

I agree with Bob L. The Bible says that hell was created for Satan and his followers. Hell was never meant for man. Sorry to break the news to you, but God does NOT send anyone to hell, people choose to.

God's omniscence wroks side by side with man's free will (a gift from God).

The purpose of hell is to punish Satan, and all who choose to rebel (sin) against God.

There is no hell, not in the sense that most people believe. God is loving, and would never create a place of eternal torment. the 'hell' you probably think of is not literal. you can find more information (ACCURATE information) in the website below. it will guide you to the bible to find the real answer. dont be misled! :)

I repeat my earlier response:
Why would the gods give us free will if they intend to punish us for using it?

And if you believe everything happens according to the gods' "plans," why would they punish anyone for following the "plan," regardless of whether they commit acts of good or evil? If it's all part of the "plan," isn't it all good?

The "purpose" of hell is for those that don't accept Jesus and continue to sin.

You always have the choice until the day you die,He just knows how you are going to choose because of the hardness of your heart ,just like Pharoah.
