My daughter is having a contest at school for best costume. The theme is 80's rock stars. Anyone have any good ideas of one that wouldn't be too hard to do on a 6 year old? Her hair is long and brown, but I'm willing to put temp. color in it, make up is fine too. She's really skinny also.... Someone please help! I'm at a loss on this one.

You should dress her up as Cyndi Lauper!! Temporarily dye her hair orangey-red, put it in a side ponytail, get some "junk jewelry" like big plastic dangly earrings and plastic bangle bracelets, an old prom or bridesmaid dress with a fluffy skirt (cut it short so it hits just below her knees), a fedora (that's a hat with a brim, like men in the forties wore), some fingerless gloves (bonus points if they're lace), black fishnet tights, and some brightly colored pointy front flats (black if you can't find a color.) It's OK if it all doesn't match- that's sort of the point. For makeup, do her eyes in a really bright blue or green shadow, with dramatically long eyelashes. Put blush in huge stripes without blending into her cheeks, and put some hot-pink or bright red lipstick on her. Here's sort of what she should look like in the end...

That was a winner of a look-alike contest. Here are some pics of the REAL Cyndi...

Joan Jett was the next best thing to a Male rock star...awesome songs and awesome guitarist!!

You just need to get her hair black(straighten it and part it down the middle, black jeans or tights, black top or black and white striped top, tennis shoes(especially old style chuck taylors, and maybe a leather jacket or jean jacket, if you have one use a real guitar as a prop, Joan was really skinny too so it should be a good choice for your daugther!

Joan Jett had brown hair. Don't know where you would get leather pants for a 6-year-old, though.

What about the Bangles? She could practice Walk Like an Egyptian and it would be cute.

If she has long dark hair, what about dressing her up as Cher? She was quite popular back then. I think in the 80s, she wore her hair wavy, so you could braid your daughter's hair while it's damp to do the hairstyle. Tight flared pants and a skimpy top should complete the outfit!

A far as rockers so...Joan Jett or Lita Ford
But it's the 80's, you could also go with pop, like Madonna or Cindy Lauper...then again, there is always Boy George!!!

How about Tiffany? She had long brown hair and was skinny. It wouldn't take much to do. Check into it, I'm sure you can find a picture of her somewhere on the internet. Good luck.
