I don't think it is all that hypocritical as you may think. Rather, perhaps you may agree as did Jesus when he said: “No one has love [agápe] greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends. You are my friends if you do what I am commanding you.” (John 15:13, 14)
IMAGINE that you are in a boat that is sinking. Would you want someone to save you?— What if someone gave up his own life to do so?— Well, that is what Jesus Christ did. He gave his life as a ransom so that we could be saved.
Of course, Jesus does not save us from drowning. What does he save us from? From the sin and death we all got from Adam. Even though some people have done very bad things, Jesus died for them too. Would you risk your life to try to save people like that?—
The Bible says: “Hardly will anyone die for a righteous man; indeed, for the good man, perhaps, someone even dares to die.” Yet, the Bible explains that Jesus “died for ungodly men.” That includes people who do not even serve God! The Bible says further: “While we were yet sinners [still doing bad things], Christ died for us.”—Romans 5:6-8.
Can you think of an apostle who had once done very bad things?— That apostle wrote: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Of these I am foremost.” The apostle who said that was Paul. He said that he was “once senseless” and that he had carried on “in badness.”—1 Timothy 1:15; Titus 3:3.
Just think of how much love God had to send his Son to die for people like that! Why not get your Bible and read about this in John chapter 3, verse 16. There it says: “God loved the world [that is, the people who live on earth] so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.”

Hi there,
God did love Jesus so very much. But, the Father told the Son what He was supposed to do and He followed through with it. Even though Jesus was sacrificed for me and you and everyone, God knew, and Jesus knew, that He would defeat death on the third day. So, not only did He forgive us of our sin, but He took away death.
Hope this helps
God bless you!

Well, of course, according to the story, God would not have been sending his son to die, since it was intended for him to merely go through the appearance of dying, and then, Pooooff, he would be back to life again and not one bit the worse for his brief ordeal. But of course, it still begs the question how a supposedly loving, compassionate, gracious and wonderful "father" would think up such a vile and sadistic stunt in the first place.

John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We are all Gods children and we were condemned to die because of the sin of Adam. So the only way that God could save us was through Jesus Christ his Son
and that is exactly what he done.
Jesus Christ was Crucified and paid the price of our sins, Now there is no death.what a wonderful thing Christ done for us.

Because of sin. Jesus lived a perfect life. Not an evil thought even crossed his mind. Death is the result of sin and because Jesus never sinned, but died, the power of sin and death were overcome in the sacrifice Jesus made.
God so loved you, that he sent his only perfect Son, that whosever will believe upon Him, shall not perish, and will enjoy life everlasting.

Because God also loved us, and He knew He could raise Jesus up again.
It is realy quite simple.
Hypocricy? Not at all. By Jesus dying, God could have Jesus back by His side on the throne, and have us in heaven with Him.
It was win-win with God all the way !
Haven't you ever had to do something distasteful in order to accomplish something great !?

God loves us more....God loved Jesus and Jesus loved us as much as God loved him so maybe Jesus asked God to save humamity from certain death. Since God loved Jesus so much he probably just let Jesus go.

You have the wrong idea about the whole thing.Jesus is as much God as the Father or the Holy Spirit is.Calling them by those terms helps us to "anthropomorphize" them ,help to bring the terms down to our level to understand. Also ,you don't know the proper definition of hypocrite.
Jesus was ,is , and always be God.Phillipians says "Jesus thought it not robbery to be equal to God ,but for our sakes emptied himself to relate to us."
It's not like God said "Hmmm,I'll send my little kid down and have him killed." Jesus said "I have the power to lay down my life and the power to take it back and no one can take that from me."
