All the word atheist means is, a non-theist. Atheist do not believe in God or Gods. Beyond that, such a person could believe anything and still be an atheist.

It is the same for people who do not believe in fairies. It is unreasonable to assume any collective traits about such people based on a belief they don't have. Atheism is not a philosophy.

Strictly speaking, an atheist is someone who doesn't believe in God or a supreme deity. I don't think that would necessarily exclude them from believing in other supernatural occurances.

However, I think that this type of person would more likely be an agnostic, someone who believes that there might be something out there, but feels that we as humans will never truly know or understand what that something is. It is unknowable and beyond our comprehension.

There are many atheists who believe a great range of things. Buddhists, for example, believe in reincarnation, and I think we can say that is a large group of atheists.

I believe we return to the spiritual whole. We just borrow bodies, essentially.

All atheism means is failing to believe in gods. Everything else is completely up in the air.

The only common element among atheists is the absence of a belief in God. Some atheists still believe in the soul and life after death. Others, who are philosophical naturalists, believe that there is no reason to believe in anything that is not essentially detectable through scientific means (although we may not yet have created the means).

It's pretty conditional between Atheists. I don't believe in any of the above, personally. True, poltergeists may exist with all the reported stories, but that in itself isn't something I want to believe in.

I don't really believe in the supernatural...but the only thing that all atheists agree on is that there is no god...everything else is up for grabs...I'm not sure what is in store for us when we die...it would be *nice* to think that there is another plane of existence where we would all go to be with passed relatives and friends...or even reincarnation...but no one really knows for sure and won't know until we die....

I can't imagine an atheist that believes in that nonsense. Of course, never underestimated the gullibility of the human mind.

We get mail when we die? SWEET! I won't need to cancel my Amazon account, then.

I believe in the extreme possibility of extraterrestrial life, but not ghosts, etc.
