Put a shallow bowl or plate under the food dish and fill it with water. That way, it won't harm your kitten, but the ants won't be able to get the food. Just make sure you keep an eye on the water level, so it doesn't dry up.
Also, get some ant traps and put them where your kitten can't get at them.

Ew. Ick.
For starters, don't leave the food bowl down all the time. Feed kitty at set meal times (2 or 3 times a day). This better mimicks their natural diet regime anyway. Clean the bowl after each use.
As for the ants - I had a huge infestation in my house once. I found lines of them marching along and traced them to cupboard. I sprayed them all with bleach and wiped up their mangled bodies with kitchen towel. I then bought ant traps from the supermarket and placed them where I'd seen the ants. Never saw an ant again! Can't be sure if it was the traps or the direct murder of them that did the trick, maybe it was both, but I'd recommend the method anyway since it worked! Although admittedly - ant bait with a cat around might not be a great idea. The traps I bought were enclosed tho, with only tiny bug holes.
Definitely don't leave the cats bowl down all the time, that's asking for it I'm afraid.

Put the food dish in a bigger bowl or empty pie tin...put the food in the bowl & add some water to the empty one...that will keep the ants out & should allow the kitten access to the food...if the food dish is like 5 inches across..use a bigger dish or bowl about 7 inches across, then add some water :) or you can also smear some vaseline around the outside of the food dish , tho messy, it also works ...Take Care :) P.S follow the ant trail to where they are coming, then sprinkle a little talc, baking soda, cinnamon or something that masks the trail & the ants will leave, I never use poisions & trying to kill them leaves a big mess to clean up, cuz ants follow each others scent !

I get those ants too-- I bought some ant bait (those little plastic things) and kept it AWAY from the cats -- taping the baits securely to the sides of walls and the furniture near to where I put the food dishes, but nowhere near where the cats can get to them and try to play with them.
This has helped.
There are also "ant proof " feeding dishes but they cost about $25.00 each.
You COULD try putting the food dish inside of a SLIGHTLY larger dish filled with a little water as it's been said that the ants won;t cross the water to get to the food.
Or you could do like I do -- even with the ant baits I still get ants, so I pick up the food dish (paper plate with wet fod) after my kitties have finished eating (after about 1/2 hour).

Can you put it in another location? Move the Bowl if possible! Dont spray any bug killer near the kitten or the food! I have 5 kittens right now! They are 3 weeks old!

Get any kind of mint oil, peppermint, spearmint etc, and sprinkle it on a towel. Wrap the towel around the outside of the bowl. Or you can wipe the oil by the fingerfull around your cat's bowl. It works for about 4 hours, then needs to be reapplied.
Mint oil is available at most health food stores and some pharmacies.

Place the food bowl on a saucer of water. The ants won't be able to cross the water to get to the bowl.
Some pet stores actually sell this setup. Check online pet supplies too.

Feed her then wrap the bowl up in plastic wrap. A 7 week old kitten does not need constant access to her food. Or try feeding her on paper plates so you can throuw them away after each use. :D

Invest in a bug proof bowl. They are built in such a way that the bugs can't get to the food. Or feed her inside away from the ants.

1) Use a paper plate to throw out after each use.
2) Feed her and put the bowl in a place that the ants can't get to.
GOOD LUCK!
