If Jesus is not God incarnate, the following would be a contradiction.
Who is the First and the Last? It is YHWH...
Isa 41:4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I YHWH, the first, and with the last; I am he.
Isa 48:12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
Who is the First and the Last? It is YHWH and His Redeemer
Isa 44:6 Thus saith the YHWH the King of Israel, and his redeemer the YHWH of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Who is the First and the Last? It is YHWH it is Yeshua, the Redeemer, the Almighty.
Re 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Re 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:
Re 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
Re 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
Re 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Re 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
________________________________
And yes, Jesus DID claim to be God.
Jesus says that He and the Father are ONE (heis in Greek which means literally the number 1) Jews seek to stone Him for claiming to be God incarnate.
John 10
"I and My Father are one."
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.
Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God."
****Important Note****
The whole reason the Jews sought to kill Jesus was because He, being a man, made Himself out to be God. If He was NOT God, then He was rightly put to death and was then a sacrifice WITH sin and blemish. Since He IS God, then His death was that of the Lamb WITHOUT spot or blemish.

Dear Paulywog,
You've got several excellent answers here!
I would like to call your attention to a wonderful chart called One Truth Exposes a Thousand Lies - Traits Shared Between Jehovah and Jesus at http://www.soulright.com
One person said after reviewing the chart "I'd say that's a suspiciously high number of qualities that Jehovah and Jesus share. And since Jehovah God will not share His glory with anyone (Isaiah 42:8) it seems odd that the two have the same characteristics through and through."

Jesus through the ENTIRE bible is called God's son, Son of God, and Begotten Son of God.
Jesus never calls himself Jehovah which is father's name. Jesus on Earth and even in Heaven is STILL called Jesus.
Even in Heaven Jehovah refers to his son as Jesus. Even in Heaven Jesus did not consider himself the same as his father, hence no trinity.
Phil 2:6 - "who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped"
1 Cor 11:3 - and the head of Christ [is] God.
Mar 13:32 But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
The Jews took up stones again to stone him [Jesus].... Jesus answered them,"I am the Son of God"
Moses is not a trinity and neither is Jesus.
Ex 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
Ex 4:16 Aaron will be your spokesman to the people, and you will be as God to him, telling him what to say.

Jesus clearly claims to be god in many passages in the new testament.
He says" Before Abraham was I AM" using the very name of God. This is further evidenced by the response of the hebrews. They picked up stones to stone him. They would only do this for blasphemy (claiming he is god is the definition of blasphemy).

Indeed! No argument here!
UPDATE for the skeptics who say that Jesus isn't God:
"But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a righteous scepter." (Hebrews 1:8)
There are many, many other Scriptures that I could point to, but if that one won't do, the others won't either.

so gods a jew? But by christian lore after jesus all jews must now be christians, nothing changed except the old school jews stopped obeying god(jesus) and continued to believe that nothings changed. By christian lore something has changed, jesus came and all that.
Jesus was jewish but he started christianity, so the story goes. Just a refinement or next generation of Jews. Islam claims to have taken another step forward; but christians refuse to believe it; like the jews refused to believe the christians. so is my uderstanding of it.

God and Jesus are two different people. Jesus is the son of God that he sent down to die for all our sins.

Jesus DID NOT claim to be God. Other people said that. Jesus was a teacher, not a god.

They are both the Savior.
They are both I AM.
They are both God.
They are both the First and the Last.
There can only be ONE first and ONE last.
Jesus is LORD!
Praise GOD!
