I know the definition of Hallowed - "to render as sacred, to revere", and I know it is talking about God's name. But how does one render God's name as sacred, practically. What does it look like?

You are referring to His name as if it's an artist's rendering you're talking about. Actually, the term means that however the name is rendered, it should be done so with reverence and awe. When talking about Him, we should honor Him, when writing about Him, we should be respectful. Whenever God's name is used, it is to be with dignity, as His position dictates. It looks like a bow to a king, a salute to an officer. However and whenever you render His name, do it with a healthy balance of love, respect and fear.

Along the lines of not taking His name in vain. One should only use His name with extreme respect and reverence. A cemetery, for example, is seen as hallowed ground, and so the ultimate disrespect to a dead person would be to dance (or worse) on their grave.

...for those who believe, of course.

My friend's last name is Hallopeter. I always thought that was a hallowed name.

It means that "Damn" is not God's last name! It means not blaming him when things go wrong as in, "God let all those people die". It means not using phrases like, "For Chr**t's sake!"

I guess you don't have a dictionary. It means "holy" or "sacred."
