Theres nothing dangerous about taking prenatal vitamins- some doctors actually recommend that you keep taking them after delivery & especially if you're breastfeeding. It sounds to me like you're anemic, I had that problem when I was pregnant & I use to take iron pills besides the prenatal ones. When you're pregnant you need extra iron in your body because the baby takes all the nutrients that you put in your body. If you think that you're anemic, talk to your doctor so they can do testing to see if your anemic. That's something that you need to take care of right away because then you can get really sick if left untreated. You can stop taking prenatal vitamins & switch to a multi- or iron vitamins that you can take on a daily basis. I had enemia only when I was pregnant but it went away because I started eating the right foods with iron that my body needed. Dont ignore the symptoms & make an appointment with your doc so he can prescibe you something better than over the counter.
Good luck...Hope you get well...

you should always take a multi vitamin, no matter what. I use centrum preformance after my prenatals run out. They have lots of B vitamins for energy and brain function. I have three boys, soon to be 5 children, I need to be healthy and in the best shape I can be, vitamins are a very big part of that.

Keep taking them, they are actually great vitamins even when you aren't breastfeeding or pregnant. It's safe. Sounds like anemia though. The vitamins will help with that. Prenatals have lots of iron.

Yes, you can. As long as you don't take more than the package recommends. Your body can only benefit from the vitamins, unless you overdose.
As for the hair issue, lots of women lose hair after having babies. I don't think it is a vitamin issue.

Many women continue taking their prenatal vitamins after giving birth. It won't harm you. In fact, technically, they are pretty much like "regular" vitamins. The reason for taking them is mainly for the folic acid, and some women can't tolerate taking prenatals, so they can take either regular vitamins or just folic acid tablets.
Go ahead and continue taking them. Stay healthy. :)

It's fine to continue taking them. In fact, all women of child-bearing age are supposed to take them. However, I think your friend is mistaken about you being anemic from your body being "used" to them. It is normal for your hair to fall out post-partum. You may want to check with your dr. though, as what you described is suggestive of a thyroid problem.

You can or just get a multivitamin. If your symptoms persist see your Dr. It could be a sign of a health problem.
