I can't understand why nothing is done when so many fatal accidents happen on some of the fast roads in our country. What's wrong with having bridges so pedestrians can cross the road safely? Is it to do with money? Is it because bridges might spoil the view? What about precious young lives that are lost to tragic accidents?

Let’s have foot bridges every mile. Mr Brown can then instigate a new tax and force pedestrians to display 'Foot Tax' badges. ‘Foot Tax’ would raise billions which could then be wasted on even more government incentives and targets.

MONEY it is just about as expensive building car bridges. Plus the bridge needs chain link fences to keep people from jumping. Then liability building a bridge that pedestrians can throw rocks on to passing cars. Number of people served and why not walk 1/2 mile out of your way instead of running across freeway traffic lanes.

With all things considered, people do not seem to care about the pedestrian. Mainly, because they are riding in a vehicle. The moment it becomes personal that all changes. Just like the highway/roadway safety sign is erected after the accident/incident. Our foresight is off. So is our consideration for others, those who choose something different than we do. Like walking. Go figure.

There is no point in putting a bridge in many areas because the stupid pedestrians will not use it, preferring to cross the shortest quickest and easiest way (to die as well). Just think about the behaviour of pedestrians at crossings - they will not cross at the crossing and will not wait for the lights!!!QED!
