Since the wages of sin are death and everyone sins, then death is imminent for all. It's also said that the body is a temple that should be treated as such. If we sin and/or consume things that damage the body, is the behavior a slow suicide since the end result will be death? Presuming the answer to be "yes" then what is the difference between a deliberate act of suicide and the death that results from our normal sinful behavior? Sin is sin and death is death; I would argue that there is no difference.

The question is hypothetical; yes, Jesus provides the means to eternal life, but I am referring to physical, earth-bound life.
And yes, the Bible is read, but quoting it is not germane to the question at hand.

Romans 6:23
The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Stop and read that again, so by receiving salvation from God through faith in His Son Jesus, death is not imminent for all.
There is no need to speculate and pose hypothetical questions. God's Word is true and trustworthy. The question then is will you take Him at His Word and trust Him with your eternal destination.
As far as suicide goes, if you are feeling suicidal please seek help. It kind of sounds like you asking "If I commit suicide will I still get to go to heaven", If I am wrong feel free to correct me. If I am right, please, please seek help. We Christians on yahoo!answers will pray for you if you ask for it.

sin brings about death more in the spiritual and moral areas than the physical. When you sin, it's like a stain on your spiritual garment of righteousness. when you continue in sin, it's like your garment is completely filthy and unusable until washed. Repentance is like the stain remover and/or washing machine that gets rid of the sin completely.
sinning, correct me if I'm wrong, may not have been what caused Adam and Eve to die physically. Death has many connotations. and you'll notice, they didn't eat of the tree of life, so they were going to die anyways, though they lived 900+ years.
dying of old age and suicide are far different. suicide is taking your life, more specifically, into your own hands and out of God's. so there lies a great problem there...

While physical death was one of the punishments for disobeying God, it is not the death that is spoken of here.
This death actually means eternal death (separation) from God and his goodness.
Adam and Eve felt this spiritual death as soon as their eyes were opened to sin and they knew they were naked and had disobeyed God. They did not fall dead as in earthly death.
I will not debate the suicide verses poisening our bodies issue as they can be one in the same but not always. But I will state this much. If the poisen that you fill your body with is done so that your life will end quicker, then its a slow slow slow way to commit suicide. Most people give no thought to early death when they overeat, drink, smoke, etc.

,Good points made, If we eat knowing those foods are bad for us isn't it the same as suicide? yes,as much as taking too many sleeping pills with a strong drink, it just takes longer but do most Americans KNOW the amount of horrible stuff that the FDA allows in their food, I doubt it. check out Jordan Rubin's site http://www.gardenoflifeusa.com/company_jordan_rubin.shtml
Let's not even talk about what the schools may teach or otherwise promote/allow for our children to eat...
Sin by definition, I was told, is knowing what is wrong & "choosing" to do it anyway or knowing what is right & "choosing" not to do it. We all make descisions that affect our Life.

"sin" is subjective, therefore it is NOT necessarily sin.
All in the mind of the one who judges! DEATH is Death However Anyone looks at it.
Physical death that is.
Spiritual, soul, conscience death may happen if it happens while we're living . . but kind seems not too bothersome to many, as MUCH as the real "eternal dirt nap" seems to affect the majority of human beings?
So what is so earthshaking about all this?

Sin is a religious idea that doesn't really exist in the real world.
What people call sins are really errors in judgement / bad choices. These things in themselves do not cause death any more then being born causes death.
As soon as you are born you are dying!
Life causes death! The only way to not die is to not live! It is all cause and effect! Everything in life is cause and effect!
Sin is a delusion!
Positive and negative actions are real. The results of your choices will depend on if your actions were positive or negative. It is really very easy to understand and observe in nature!

For the wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our lord. This is talking about the spiritual death. We are not worthy to go to heaven because of our sin, we are destined for hell. But because of Jesus we can be forgive for those sins and go to heaven.

The difference would be sinning on purpose vs. someone trying not to sin. When one commits suicide, how he dies is under his control - if I got hit by a bus tomorrow, it wouldn't be suicide because I'm not trying to die and my death wouldn't have been under my control.

When you come back around again in your circular reasoning, try to grab the brass ring and I'll take your picture lol
j/k, but I do think you've missed one little tiny point in all this and that is repentance and forgiveness. A person who eats themselves into obesity has the chance to change their ways ... a person who ingests poison does not.

I'll die just like anyone in the world, and none of it from religious fallacies either. I'll die because I'll either get severely injured or sick or just get old and my heart will stop. There's nothing religious about death as far as I'm concerned.
