I am 16 years old, I am 5'3" and 175 lbs. I need to lose 35-40 pounds to be healthy. I need a few ideas of what foods NOT to eat. Will it be ok to have bread once in a while? I know a lot of diets don't allow bread. Also, I crave Pepsi. Is there anything or any other kinds of soda (besides diet soda) that i can have? any kind of meal ideas will be welcome as well. please help me be healthy again!

Eat TONS of fruits and veggies. Try to not eat a lot of artificial things. Look at the ingredients on whatever you're about to eat. If it says 'Artificial' or 'Enriched', then it's not good to eat. Try to eat lean meats like chicken or turkey. You can eat fish if you're a seafood person. If you need to drink sodas, try lemon-lime sodas. They taste a lot better and have way less calories. Try cardio once in a while. Even just walking for half an hour is exercise. Good luck!

Plenty of fruits and veggies, lean meat or fish, lots of water, whole grain breads and pastas, exercise (try walking a mile every other day-listen to some music, it goes faster). I would stay away from diet sodas and artificially sweetened drinks and snacks in general. You are still growing and developing and I don't think you need all that. I'd say a Pepsi once in a while is ok as long as you don't overdo it. Maybe try tea instead (it's not quite as bad) or 100% juices for variety (no cocktails, they are loaded with sugar). Read ingredients on foods and steer further away from the artificial stuff. Don't forget to eat breakfast. It jump starts your metabolism and helps your brain to function better. Have a bowl of whole grain cereal and fruit or some lowfat yogurt and fruit for breakfast. You should try to eat 3 meals a day at at least 3 healthy snacks at your age. That's not too much to eat as long as you're eating sensibly. And don't worry if you eat a brownie now and then, it won't hurt you. You have to strike a balance. Good luck and please stay away from fad diets. The best diet is variety and self control. :)

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

It's just white bread you should avoid, along with sugar, fast food and processed foods. Try to eat more lean meats and foods that are high in fiber - fruits, veggies, whole grain breads, etc.. They will keep you more satisfied. Sodas are bad for you. Limit them to the occasional treat. Just as important as your diet, though, you need to go out and move for at least 30 minutes a day. Good luck!!

You could try Atkins.....but very few carbs (bread, potatoes etc.) if you do. It really works and people loose 35-100 lbs on it, but you got to be careful with what you eat. You can eat alot of food as long as you stay away from carbs. Once you get past the 2 week induction period the carb intake increases...but you'll loose more weight if you keep the carb count low. And NO SUGAR.............
good luck

It is really a calorie issue. You can eat whatever you want as long as you consume the right number of calories. For a male, minimum 1800 per day and for female minimum of 1200 per day. A friend said a simple way to calculate is to determine your ideal weight and add a zero to the end (You want to be 140 lbs then eat only 1400 calories per day).

Also, protein makes you feel full, so eat protein for breakfast (like eggs) and you will be less likely to snack during the day.

I lost a lot of weight this way.

Exercise is important. I hate exercising, but I love my dogs, who get walked every day & twice on weekends! Find something you love that keeps you active. Even if it isn't hard-core exercise, activity keeps you busy and away from the snacks.

Best of luck!

you're overweight for your age. the good news is that b/c you're young you're able to lose weight faster. avoid fattening and greasy foods such as hamburgers, pizza, fried rice. Go for steamed, grilled or sauteed foods. Eat a fruit before you eat, so that you don't overeat. Also, sometimes people mistake hunger for thirst. So, make sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.Avoid sugary drinks too. Soda is not good. Diet coke only makes you more hungry. THere's something in aspartame that makes you more hungry, so if possible avoid it.

eat lots of fruits and veggies and drink plenty of water. you also have to get out there and exercise, that is the only way to do it. Carbs are good as long as they are whole grains. pasta and bread is ok, in moderation, just again eat whole grains. Regular soda will kill your diet....I love pepsi too...but now i drink diet pepsi..its not so bad..if you like Dr. Pepper...Diet Dr. Pepper really tastes just like the original...

Small portians of fish or chicken with vegatables. Drink only water and skim milk ! Walking is good but riding a bicycle is better ! Keep in low gear because pedaling is what works your stomach muscles !
