If so, is it possible that we should reexamine our moral code? A friend of mine suggested that it is not enough to know what we want, but that it would help if we knew why we wanted it as well.

-Lotta, it seems your saying it was easier to act out of love than anger. it was easier to make the "right" choice because of the obvious repercussions of the "Wrong" one. Is that phrasing it correctly?
-Salahuld, you have an interesting point, but are we all in jail? Are we all guilty of major offenses against our fellow men, or have we held ourselves in control? isn't it true that to fail is the exception?
-Gub & Single, is it true then, that you believe we can never make a moral decision with out supernatural assistance?

I don't think a review of the moral code is called for, perhaps it is a matter of discipline, relating to listening to one's conscience.
Having said that, perhaps morality should be re examined, for it seems some people's morality tells them they may do what they wish with impunity, for all they need to do to make amends is whisper an apology into the thin air.
It is not an easy question to answer without seeming judgemental, or inflaming the passions of those who may see their vested interests in maintaining the status quo slanted in their favour as being under attack.
Free speech, the very notion of open debate cannot exist in such circumstances.
Poor Mr Yeltsin, he worked to 'free' his people from autocracy, we are told, only to die in a time when his nation's greatest rival seems to have adopted that very mindset. And I don't mean freedom.

It is easier to do the wrong thing.

However, if the right thing was easy, then everyone would do it and we would have no need for jails, prisons, or even weapons.

Is it easier to react in the flesh & curse & scream or is it easier to choose to follow after the fruits of the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit doesn't force us to choose to do right, we have to die to the lust of the flesh by not reacting when someone pushes (i7rrrrrr) our buttons (my grandaughter just pushed my buttons.), and make the souls choice to follow after the fruits of the spirit; faith, hope, love, joy, peace, patience, honesty, etc... So instead of yelling at her for pushing my buttons (i7rrrrrr) I chose to laugh & to think this is interesting. My grandaughter just told me she is pushing my funny buttons.

Without the wisdom of the Spirit of truth, impossible to do the right thing because we wouldn't know what that is.
