actually honey, we've learned lessons but our leaders just aren't using them...you would think that after HOW many years in Vietnam with NO victory we would see the similarities and turn the other way and RUN. but no. instead we are pouring more and more people into these countries and killing more and more of our military. even civilians are dying now. i just got a report on my military web page that said the Taliban is using little children now to kill our soilders. just like in vietnam. and the ones that DO kill the children come back really messed up or even the ones that DONT kill them come back messed up, so what lessons are we using in the Iraq war? that the quacks and funeral homes are going to be making more money now.

GREAT QUESTION! A general wrote a book about your very question. He noted how the media heavily influenced public opinion back here and turned the course of the war. Today the left wing media wanting this to be "George Bush's Vietnam" is spewing out all of the negative information and not the good. It is known for a fact that it is not the journalists themselves but the networks that are dictating the negative "propaganda". Of course, in any war there are negative events but to report only those is unfair and in my opinion traitorous. Their agenda is to get George Bush and the Republicans out and the liberals will endanger our military, national security, and violate the Constitution to do it. The story that a Koran was flushed down a toilet at Gitmo (Cuba) was all a lie from Newsweek Magazine. As a result 15 people were killed from the report inciting Muslims to kill Americans! THE TERRORISTS KNOW IT WAS THE NEGATIVE MEDIA THAT PRODUCED THE OUTCOME OF VIETNAM. NOW, THEIR GOAL AS TERRORISTS IS TO INFLUENCE PUBLIC OPINION IN DEMOCRACIES. THAT IS WHY TERRORISTS ACT THAT WAY IS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY COULD NEVER WIN MILITARILY.

None. That is, the US is making many of the same mistakes in Iraq that it did in Vietnam.

The next mistake on the list is 'Vietnamizing the War' as a way to get American troops out.

We learned that the liberal media can still influence the short term mode of the American people. Let's see how they do now that we have told the world we lack the courage to fight a hard war.

None, and Bush and Rummy ignored Shinseki and other Military leaders who said more troops were needed and fired many of them until them found someone who would support their ill conceived "plans" , not to mention the dozens of generals who quit in disgust over Bushes stupidity regarding war plans.

One war doesn't have anyting to do with the other, but the main lesson would be that the war is left to the military to run it, not Congress. ROE's should be open and not restricted!

Most importantly, I think we are being more supportive of out troops, and not calling them baby killers or rapists, although that is rumored to have happened.
