I've taken gallon milk-jugs and just put them in the freezer. They expand a little, so it might be wise to take a cup-or-two off the top before you stick it in the freezer.

The milk will turn yellowish when fully frozen. Don't let that scare you, because when it thaws out it turns back to white.

The only thing... it takes 'forever' to thaw out in the fridge. There will be ice chunks even after 1 week of thawing in the fridge. (But, Do Not thaw it out on the counter).

Milk sold in plastic gallon (and some half-gallon) containers have indented, circular 'blow out' depressions molded into them. These are best for cryogenic storage.

This way, when you freeze it, the expansion has somewhere to go and doesn't split the container.

Wax paper cartons are a different story. It's about 50-50 if they will hold up under the strain. Messy.

Frozen milk keeps very well, and, upon thawing, if you will give it a little air and a good, hard shaking, the flavor is excellent! If you have a "deal" on milk it can pay to freeze it for a rainy day.

Best wishes!

The same way you freeze any other liquid. You can do it in ice cube trays and put them in a bag if that sounds easier to you.
