First of all how many speaker does your car has? If they 're 4 speakers then probably the rear speakers ares attached to the same wires of the front speakers. Inspect the old unit to see how many speaker wires it has. If they are only 2 sets of speaker wire, then your old unit had only 2 channels out. Left and right. Does your old unit support the feature of fader (front & rear volume)?. If not then is only a 2 ch unit and you will need to run new wires for the speakers. Anyway is best to replace the stock speaker wiring since the new unit has more power it will probably need thicker wires. How are your speakers? Are they stock speakers? If they are is recommended to get some new speakers able of hold the power the new unit supply, if not they 're probably will blew in a few months.

There are no 99 Chevys with common-ground speaker wiring. Your car definitely has positive and negative speaker wires. If your vehicle has a Bose system, the signal wires to the factory amp may be common-ground; if so, you'll need a premium sound adapter. If it's not a Bose system, then all the speaker wires should be available behind the radio, and there definitely should be 8 of them.

More information on the vehicle?
