Mine are all inside. I can't stand Mr. Milan though.

That's entirely dependent on my dog's preferences and the weather. He doesn't much care for temperatures over 68*F in the house and actively seeks to be outdoors when that temperature is exceeded. But at 85*F outside he will lay in the sun !!! ---- go figure. He is a Black Lab so it comes as no great surprise that he loves fresh air more than being in the house. But he has access to the house all night and whenever he wants company. All he has to do is ask and he is brought inside. We have never forced him out the door except when he used to fart (that issue has been resolved). Winters are HARD here (MINUS 30*F) and his outdoor activities are restricted somewhat because he refuses to use the insulated dog house I had constructed for him (I have since sold that dog house). FACT - my dog may come and go as he pleases; there is usually someone home 24/7 and we have a neighbour that let's him in and out when we are not present.

I agree with you 100% !!!! Mine do EXACTLY the same as your dogs. I absolutely HATE people who get a dog, leave it outside ALL the time, never pay ANY attention, or give them any love, and then "boast" to everyone "I have a dog" !! And I don't care what Cesar or ANYONE else says about "proper" training. My dogs are part of my family, and I would not leave my family members outside. I have a Golden who is 11, and a Black Lab who is 8. They are my CONSTANT companions, and I love it that way !! They have total access to my whole house, and YES, they BOTH do sleep with me in a king sized waterbed. There is NOTHING like cuddling up with two big dogs in cold weather !! Hair?? SO WHAT. there are downsides to everything in life. That's what vaccum cleaners are for !! My dogs are better company than most humans, and I believe in enjoying them TOTALLY while I have them. They will be gone TOO soon as it is, so I give them all the love I can (which they return in abundance). How could anyone who really loves a dog look at that sweet innocent face, and leave it out??? Sorry for ranting and raving, but I DO have VERY strong opinions about pets being part of the family !!! You are WONDERFUL and don't let ANYONE try to persuade you otherwise !!!!
P.S. It DOES get a little crowded when my husband (a truck driver) is home, and the cat ALSO decides she needs to join us in the bed. Dogs and cat are all female, and hubby says he doesn't mind being surrounded by "girls" ROFL

My dog is both. At night and during bad weather he is in the house. Otherwise he is outside playing and running the yard. This is how he prefers it. Sometimes I can hardly get him in when I need to leave and know I'll be gone for more than an hour. The only time he is made to be outside when he wants to be in is when we have a lot of company coming in the house at once. Then he's put out until everybody is in the house and settled. Then he comes back in meets and greets everyon.
He is not allowed on my furnature, just as the kids are to leave him alone when he is on his bed. I do not believe in crates at anytime. My dog is free to roam the house when ever he wants. But I did use a crate at night when he was a pup for potty training. But I have no problem with other people using crates. Most of my friends do.

My dog is an inside dog as well as all the other dogs I have had. I have them for companionship and consider them a family member so there would be no reason to have them outside all the time. My dog gets plenty of outdoor play and sunshine, but her main place is inside the house. She is free to go in any room she wants. She loves to sleep on rugs and takes naps on any of the throw rugs we have in the house. She sleeps in a nice big rug alongside our bed at night.

I have never understood why a person would get a dog then either put it in a pen or chain it up.
Dogs are social animals and want to be around their owners.
I have always I had inside dogs. I have always treated them as if they were my children. My daughter used to tell me that the dog got better care than she did.
I used to have a 65 pound dog and one 50 pound dog and a 18 pound cat sleeping with my husband and me.
They had the run of the house. I never was scared to stay by myself when my husband would be gone at night.
There was never a doubt that my dogs knew that I loved them and they loved me !
What must a dog be thinking that is out in a pen or tied up? Are they wondering what did I do wrong to have to live like this. I never see my owner except for when he might remember to feed and water me. My so called bed is cold and wet. The dog house roof leaks. That dog next door is so lucky to have a owner that loves him so much that he gets to live inside the house rather than to be looking inside the house.
I love inside dogs!!!

Outside Dogs are not an option in my house. My dog is an important part of my family and he is treated as such. He enjoys the same comforts of home as I do, central air in the summer and heat in the winter. He has two dog beds in the bedroom to chose from at night and prefers our leather chair for sleeping in the day. He is fed a premium diet twice daily and has a dog birthday cake every year for his birthday, he's 11 now. I probably spend as much money on his grooming per year as I do on my own hair. He is a pampered doggie.

I leave my dog outside during times that I will not be home because he has a MAJOR problem with separation and everything in my house will be destroyed if I dont. I make sure he has plenty of food and water and let the neighbor know when I am doing it so she can check on him if I will be gone a long time.
When I am home though he is inside with me especially when my husband is deployed(like now) or gone to work because we have had some not so good natured people move in across from us and I feel safer with him at my side.

Every dog I've ever had were indoor dogs. Currently, I have a 15 year-old border-collie mix and a 14 year-old beagle and both are spoiled rotten. But, like you, I have boundaries for them. They can get on the couches but they aren't allowed on the beds. They have their own. But, hey, they are senior citizens and I don't know how much longer I'll have them, so they get away with more than they used to. :)

My dogs are indoors with boundaries. They are allowed inside but do not sleep on human beds or get on furniture. Because they are large they have also been taught that the kitchen and guest room are off-limits (so that guests will not be pestered by dogs if they don't want to be). They have their own beds within our bedroom.
I think dogs need to be indoors with their families as part of the pack but they also should have limitations on what they can do - partly good manners and partly pack order. Also, dogs shoudl not be out in excessively hot or cold weather.

Dogs are very social, even more then humans. Inside or outside matters not.
The dog wants to be wherever you are, period.
If I am outside all day and left the dog inside she would whine and be very upset.
So if you are inside all day then you should keep the dog inside.
My dog follows me in and out, always by my feet.
I agree that people that just chain a dog up outside by itself should not have a dog.
Dogs are social, if you are going to keep a dog outside and not spend much time with it consider getting two dogs. Thats not as bad. But never keep a dog by itself for long periods of time over the long term. There are not built to deal with that.
