For a while now, something strange started happening to me. It happened to me before, a few years ago, but it stopped. And now it started again. I don't know actually what this is... It's strange... When outside is getting darker, I start feeling.. bad... I can't breath, I feel sick... I feel troubled... and I really have no reasons! And that freaks me out! I don't know why this happens. I thought of some explanations, but the only possible one is... panic attack... I don't know... I heard something about them, but... I don't know... I don't think it's a panic attack, because, from what I know, a person feels worse when she/he has a panic attack. Plus, I don't know any reasons for why I should have this "panic attacks". So can you help me, please? If you know what this could be about, can you tell me how I can get rid of it? Please!

You could have a kind of phobia concerning being in a dark place. Has anything bad ever happened to you at night? It could be something that you hardly remember. To cope, turn on the lights before it gets dark outside and close the drapes or blinds.

It does sound like anxiety disorder or panic disorder. It does not matter whether you feel stressed. It does not matter if you know why. Everything can be going well in your life, and for whatever reason, you start to panic. A lot happens in our unconscious mind that we are unaware of, any of them can show themselves as a mental illness. It doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong with you, but if it interferes with your life, you should seek help. Psychotherapy works very well for panic disorder--you may not even need meds.

Ah, you didn't mention if this is a daily or seasonal thing (days getting shorter).

It could be panic attacks. The good news here is that panic disorders (I have several myself) are due to imbalances in brain chemistry, so they're relatively easily controlled with medication, and perhaps a little bit of therapy to learn to cope with them.

If it's seasonal, there's a disorder known as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) which has to do with shorter days and less light-time. Also fairly easily controlled; such patients usually spend some extra time each day sitting in front of a box with fluorescent lights in it.

Either way, hook up with mental health folks locally or go to the ER with this.

It sounds like you are having an anxiety or panic attack. The best way to help you get this under control is to see your doctor. Your doctor can prescribe medication to control these attacks. This is the only way to get help.

Hope this helps :-)

I don't mean this bad, but have you thought about depression, some forms of depression can act like your symptoms, which could result in your panic attack, have you been under alot of stress lately, if so, perhaps you need to just take a moment and take a break, life keeps going, there's not sense in stressing now, when you have a whole life ahead of you.

Could it be Seasonal Affective Disorder? This is where a person gets depressed over it being dark and wintry outside.
