Not too hard to do- it's pretty much how I live.
Some tips:
Food- avoid tailored to kids foods- Kid Cuisine/sugary cereal/fruity snacks. The real thing is much cheaper and healthier too.
Toys- you can find a lot second hand or new on Ebay. We only buy our kids toys on B-days & Christmas (they occasionally might get a toy for something special or with money they saved, but otherwise not.) That way you can save up for special toys that they REALLY want.
Clothes- Check out thrift stores, yard sales & consignment shops. Let someone else buy them new, you can find the same clothes for MUCH cheaper.
Activities- You can find coupons in the paper, special promotions, etc. Mine is involved in Girl Scouts, we can get camperships for camp if needed to help pay for them. Try volunteering together & doing free things- check your local paper. This will help you save money for the things that are really important.
Childcare- trade with a friend or start a babysitting co-op.
TV- turn it off. The less commercials they see for things, the less they have to have.
Morals involved with living frugally: In my house, we consider living frugally and simply to be an important part of our life and home. We would rather live simply with a few things we REALLY want than be spending our hard earned money all the time. With the money we save, we have more to donate- it's not about being selfish. We stress to the kids that life isn't about stuff, it's about people.

Join Freecycle.org
Shop at Savers or other Thirft stores (I find cute clothing all the time: Old Navy, The Children's Place, and Baby Gap)
Go garage sale-ing
For home improvement projects, look for oops paint at Lowe's or Home Depot (usually $5 -$8 a gallon)
Wal-Mart diapers work just as great as the more expensive brands
Buy Sauve hair care products
Teach yourself to give home hair cuts
Look online for Summer Movie Deals. Try Harkin's or AMC if you have those in your state. Harkin's has 10 movies for $7 and AMC has a weekly FREE movie special.
Nurse your babies, formula is so expensive!
Be content with what you have, most of us have way more than we'll ever need or use in our lifetime!
