I always hear that people get partial scholarships or full scholarships through good grades and stuff.
I wanted to know though if they give it to based on your GPA and ACT scores.
I'm a junior right now and i have a a pretty good GPA..3.7ish on a 4.0 scale. However my ACT score is not great..i got a 24.
I plan to go to the University of Illinois in Chicago
so i wanted to know if they'd consider giving me a scholarship.

UIC will not give you a merit scholarship based off that GPA/ACT. You have fairly average numbers for UIC. To be just considered, you have to get a 28 on the ACT and be in the top 15% of your class. They offer only 30 partial/full merit scholarships per year.
In terms of need based scholarships, that is a different story.

I would call, or visit the website of the college that you would like to attend to find out if they offer scholarships. You can also contact the financial aid office of the college and ask if there is any criteria that you need to meet to be able to get a scholarship. Normally they will have a list of scholarships offered and the criteria pertaining to each. That way you can get the paper work in now and worry about the formalities later.
Another thing is, that you need to find out if you qualify for a partial Pell Grant. Many students that live with their parents and attend college can get some money to help with exspenses. This might be something to look into.
Your best bet though, is to call the college's financial aid office and obtain a list of scholarships.
I hope this helps, good luck.

Are you kidding.... a 24 is fantastic! You should review the actual scale- your almost at the top of it! While many colleges look at GPA and scores, usually scholarships involve some type of application that involves a writing sample.

Colleges also have, in the financial aid dept, those obscure scholarships that nobody applies for - you have to research them and see what is there. The writing sample will still, more than likely, still apply.

Have you tried the fast web scholarship website?
