My daughter has a persistent cold and it is not clearing up.I haven't been able to get in to see the doctor about it, but I was wondering if anyone else had similar symptoms.Doesn't it seem that the colds and flu have been really bad this season?

Yes, in fact 99% of all children get RSV at least one time before they turn 3. Most parents have no idea because it mimicks a cold, and clears up on it's own. It's really only dangerous in babies under 6 months of age, and children who were born prematurely and have issues with their lungs. There is no real treatment for RSV itself, the symptoms are treated as you would with any illness. Babies are sometimes admitted to the hospital and just monitored to make sure they do not get dehydrated. Give your daughter plenty of fluids and it should pass on it's own. RSV usually lasts about 2 weeks.

yes, as a matter of fact almost every single child has RSV by the time they are two and you never even know it! Adults get it and it appears as a bad cold. Most children get it and it appears in the same form, a bad cold. The thing that makes RSV stand out is the deep, wheezy cough that children get from it and that lasts for as long as a month. RSV can also lead to phnemonia and bronchitis. But it isn't as bad as people seem to think. The biggest threat of course is to infants and young children. But only if the other symptoms appear! If your daughter has had a cold for awhile and never has at least 2 days where she seems completley well, take her to her pediatrician. It could be something else like allergies of a bacterial infection. Of course, if you are really worried, take her anyway!!

Yes, older children and adults can get RSV, but it's usually not as bad for them as it is for newborns and especially preemies.

Many doctors will not test for RSV, because they say by the time they get the test results back, the symptoms are gone. But, some will test if you are persistent.

My daughter had RSV in January, and the doc said "I haven't seen any cases of it yet this year". Well, she was the first, because within a week, 2 or 3 other kids at the daycare all had it.

Yes, you can even get RSV. It knows no age limit. Doctors only really worry about it when the babies are really young. My daughter caught it when she was one. I would advised you to go to the doctor still though just in case. My daughters case gave her ear infections and a nasty cough.I would also make sure she's not tugging on those ears. As soon as you can get her checked out the better.Yes, colds are awful this season my 6 month old has a cold as we speak. Good luck! :)

Yes, my son had RSV when he was about a year old. I took him to the dr and they gave me a prescription for Albuteral and a breathing machine, and all I had to do was pour the liquid into the machine and turn it on and let him breathe in the medicine that comes out in a mist and he cleared up in just a few days. It worked really well. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.

Yes a two year can have rsv. But it could also possibly be asthama. I am kind of dealing with the same thing right now. My son ( 15 months) has a bad cold and he is doing breathing treatments right now and they help a lot, so get to the doc. as soon as you can.

Hey ok my nephew is 2 and i swear he had rsv and i took him to the doc and he told me it was asthma and gave me an albutorol machine. But only use it when needed. After i used it for a week he has been fine since. I think they can get rsv at that age but the doctor might rule it as asthma.

purchase a Nebulizer. My pal is a nurse and have been given me one alongside with the sterilized water, labored wonders. or maybe ask your medical professional in the event that they might supply you one. I used albutrol with my daughter because of fact she has bronchial asthma alongside with RSV. The albuterol will dilate the bronchial tubes and make respiratory much less complicated. I nonetheless recommend an nebulizer nonetheless, notwithstanding in case you may desire to purchase one there not too undesirable.

If your baby was a preemie, I would call the doctor's office. Otherwise, it is not likely a problem, even if she does have RSV.
