My pitbull/beagle mix is named Jack. I don't know why... It just fit him.

My boyfriend's Rott/Lab mix is named Hannibal.... He was supposed to be a guard dog, so that's why the name, but he turned out to be horrible at guarding... he's a big attention whore with separation issues...

I used to have a pug. When we got him, his name was Grunt because he made this strange breathing noise (how cruel). We knew we had to change that and one night my dad was reading a book to me (i was in like Kindergarten, ok?) and there was a dog named Jocko in it. Just as a joke my dad said wouldn't it be funny if Grunt was named Jocko? I started calling him that, too, as a joke but i never called him Grunt again and the rest of the family soon caught on!

I also have a dog named Cricket right now. she is a border terrier and we named her because she is a very jumpy dog!

I also have a dog named Duncan (also a border terrier) but no story behind that!

I have 4 dogs.
Duke - male black lab - came to us as an adult (3 yrs old) so he kept the name he already had.

Daisy - female yellow lab mix - as above. Both came from the same family.

Monkey - female golden retriever - Her proper name is
Chianti, but when I called her I'd say "come on Chi (key)" which in turn got shortened to "Mon Chi" and finally I'd just stick my head out the door and yell Monkey, Monkey. After a while it stuck.

Libby Lou - female blue heeler - her proper name was Liberty which got shortened to Libby and then evolved to Libby Lou.

My cats are Bug, because she's a pest and Purrrrkin, because she turns her motor on the second you pick her up.

Black/whi/silver Husky w/blue eyes named Greystoke (after Tarzan's surname) because I love literature, and it was a really strong name.
Black Shepherd/Chow (blind) named Vic when I adopted him, but I've given him the full name of "Victor Frankenstein", once again, the literary reference, and it's rather mysterious, kind of like Vic.
Red/whi Husky with blue eyes named Redfurred because he's stunning and Robert Redfurd was a strawberry blond with blue eyes
Red female Husky mix, named Lucee after Lucille Ball (just spelled differently) partially because of the red hair and mostly because she's quite a clown

Marley, she is a pit/lab mix that we rescued from a shelter. Her name at the shelter was Morgan but we didn't like that... I'm a huge Bob Marley fan and I just think the name Marley is cute for a dog... It just fit.

Josie - we got her from a shelter when she was 1 year old and that was the name that she had and we liked it and kept it, no other reason.

Emmy-got her when she was 5 months old, she had another name that we did not like. If we had another daughter, we were going to name her Emily, so Emmy just stuck.
