I've had my nose pierced for 2 years. I took it out for 2 days and now it's half closed. Is it really bad to take a needle and force it open again? Will it create gnarly scar tissue?

Yes it's a bad idea, and yes, you will end up with scar tissue. If it's not entirely closed you can get a taper and stretch it back to it's regular size (your piercing artist can do this for you). Forcing it back open is going to cause you all sorts of problems, scar tissue and infection being the most probable.

Yeah. I constantly reopen my nostril piercing, too. But I've had mine for 4 years at this point. I don't use a needle. That could get ugly. You may end up repiercing another hole, versus reopening the existing one.

How about try forcing jewelry thru it first? Sanitize it. Wash your hands. Expect there to be a little blood. It will hurt a bit. And you'll hear a "pop" when you're there.

I wouldn't recommend reopening the piercing on your own. Besides the infection factor, a lot of amateur piercings and repiercings tend to cause keloid scars which are the ugly, thick, hard-tissue scars that don't go away.

If you are intent on doing it though, be very careful. Not even sewing needles are sterilized, so be as cautious as you can!

It will probably hurt, and may bleed a bit. Wash your hands and the area thoroughly before trying to poke it through again. Or you could just go back to a piercer, and have them do it. I've only ever had to poke earrings back through my ears, and it hurts a little, but there was no infection. I would recommend usting the jewelry instead of a needle though

This used to happen all the time with my nose piercing, just re-pierce it yourself with the stud, or ring. And take care of it like it's brand new, ya know Bactiene twice a day for about two weeks.

u can gently try to re-open the hole, but forcing it may tear the skin or tissue, so if that doesn`t work, just go to a professional piercer & let them help u with it...

Nah, I always repierce my piercings, It doesn't hurt, you'll just feel a pop when it goes through and it won't scar.
