There is a planet, far away but none the less it's there.

If it was proven that there was life on this planet would you wonder......?

I'm asking this because to my knowledge none of the world’s major religions mentions anything of life beyond Earth.

I'm getting all "no I'll still believe in God" so let me rephrase this:

Would you question the organised religion to which you subscribe to?

Religions will not mention life beyond earth, b/c earth was all they knew. They did discover a new planet, much larger than the Earth, but has a temperature range of 32-100 degrees F. It is likely that there are organisms, if this is the case. They hypothesize that the planet is completely covered in water, or that the surface is full of jagged rocks and terrain. It'll be interesting to see... What if... But, hey, I don't think that it'll really falter my faith.

Einstein once advised everyone to never stop questioning. I was raised a Catholic and left the Church when I found no answers forthcoming to question I had about the various doctrines. I've studied religions from all over the world, and am currently a Neo-Pagan. If I found another faith that better conformed to my understanding of the world I would not hesitate to explore and possibly embrace that new path. What I will not do is accept any human as having unquestionable authority, or any man made institution or dogma as being infallible.

Just because such a planet is not mentioned does not negate any part of the Bible. What difference would knowledge of this planet make? Since it would be in another solar system, how would we get there? How would we communicate? It is very doubtful any of this could be done so what differnce would it make?

The Bible was written for earth. Spirit creatures, not human, do exist outside of earth. Anyone or thing else, we have enough trouble with what we have got.

Check out Seventh Day Adventism and you will find a different answer. There is intelligent life on other planets. More intelligent than us who choose to take the path of sin. We are quaranteened from them in our current sinful state so that this disease of sin does not spread into other worlds. One day those who choose to follow Christ will be ambassadors for Him to these other worlds proclaiming His love while walking thru the valley of death.

By the way. I did question my faith and that is why I became a Seventh Day Adventist. They follow the Scriptures closer than any other denomination I've ever known.

The reality is this. There is no life on other planets. The universe was created for you and me. Satan uses your curiosity and dreaming to get your mind off of God and to make you think that you are not so special. The fact is, you are special to God. He loves you and created an entire universe for your enjoyment.

No one enjoys Star Trek and Star Wars more than me, but the reality is that science fiction is just that.... fiction. The Bible also tells that once all of the sons and daughters of God are revealed (those who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior), then God will "roll up" the universe and create a new heaven and a new earth.

Can you start to understand that God created all of it just for us? If you can, then you can stop worrying about aliens... there aren't any.

Yes, you better! I question what people try to teach me always-its a scriptural command from the Bible.
However, finding life on another planet would have no effect on the Bible or Christianity.

No. I would pass it off as another bogus attempt of manufacturing a lie to undermine faith. Like the movie "Capricorn One" that promotes the idea that astronauts really didn't walk on the moon I wouldn't put it passed the irreligious to manufacture "Contact."

i always question my faith. I find it strengthens it and allows me to learn more about who I am and who I would like to be! I don't need ET to allow that. I think it is very possible that other planets hold some for of life, if only single celled organisms. BB Sdw

Why would it matter if there were life elsewhere in the universe?

To me it's illogical (not to mention incredibly egotistical) to think that this is the ONLY speck of dirt in a nearly infinite universe that has life on it.

Yes, I read that news story too. But to answer your question, no, it wouldn't affect my faith one bit. There is no life elsewhere in the universe besides on earth. There may be planets similar to earth but containing absolutely no life whatsoever.
