Assuming the concert is really "soft rock" and doesn't have offensive or vulgar music, and that the concert will not interfere with other commitments (such as school, etc) then I do not understand why he would not let his child go.
If he has instilled good values in his child, where is the harm in letting them enjoy music with his/her friends? To me, refusing to let the child attend the concert would indicate that he does not trust his child. THAT might do more to lower my opinion of him than knowing that he let his child attend a concert.

What do you think about a church leader not being able to trust his child at any concert?
I'd think less of the church leader for restricting his child from going. If he's raised his child right, then there's no reason for the child to go to any concert or event.

What!!!! there is nothing wrong with that at all, as a matter of fact the church leader where i go listens to rock all the time, as long as the music doesnt start persuading you away from the church than it's all good.

Is soft rock of the devil? Is the environment toxic to a young Christian? Will people be drinking alcohol and smoking weed there? These are all questions that pop into the average Christian's mind when preparing to answer this question. The bottom line is, none of those things matter. What really matters is the state of the 16-year-old that's going. You see, that kid is going to be exposed to that kind of behavior all the time. Is the child mature enough to handle that situation, where all these things are going on around him/her. And if not, he/she will have to learn how to handle themselves in a Christian manner when they are tempted to do the same things. Where will they get their chance to do the right thing when wrong things are going on around them? Ever? My son is 16, and I'd let him go, because I'd rather that he learn early to test his Christian mettle, and get better and better at it as he grows older. Risky? yes, but I won't be naive, either. He's exposed to that type of behavior in school every day. Explicit music and videos, peer profanity, drug use, sexual activity. He better learn how to deal with it now.

If the lyrics and the performer are not objectionable, then I see nothing wrong with it. Think of it this way - will going to this concert in any way damage the witness of the child or the dad? Is there anyone who will say that just being there did not honor God?
There's no mention of concerts in the Bible, but I would imagine that Jesus would stop to listen to musicians playing in the town square or marketplace. I'm sure he didn't only listen to music that would have been in the temple. The Bible says music gives glory to God. It says bang the loud drum and crashing cymbals. Sounds like "rock" to me! ;)

If it was me, I'd rather my kid go to a death metal concert than a soft rock one! ;-)
Come on, soft rock? Why would I think less of someone for letting a 16 year old go to a music concert? That is normal behavior.

NOOO!!! Not Soft Rock!! That's the Devils Music!! We must shelter our childeren and not let them make their own decisions. Don't Let them know what's really Going on in the World!! And For heavens sake don't let them Out of the House Unless you are there to cover their eyes and ears!!!! Or else they might see something they like!! ~~SARCASM~~
Get Real!! Kids, who've been totally sheltered their whole life have no decision making skills. When they leave home for college they collapse, because there's nobody around to discipline or order them around. Guide childeren to make good decisions and think for themselves, Dogs and Horses should be obediant, kids should be educated.

I would not think less of a church leader. As long as it wasn't hard rap or with a lot of bad language in it.
