Milk from free range cows. Can you get it? I already have organic but I'm not sure if it's free range. Thanks in advance.

Free range dairy cattle....interesting. Depends on the type of farm. ALL milk comes from the same place.
Some farms keep their cattle in BIG lots, and feed them food that induces better milk production. Not many farms allow their cows to be out on pasture(free range)....Its not the way its down.

If you live in Wisconsin, or Minnesota, find a smaller farm, with free range cattle and buy your milk directly.

California, Az, and other states, mainly have big farms where cattle are in big lots, force fed, and milked 3 times a day. Not healthy in my eyes.

Trader Joes or Henrys(California, Az) have the best bets for organic milk. But "free range" milk is nonexistent unless you go directly to the farm and see the cows.

Aren't most dairy cows "free range"? Theres no reason to lock them up like beef cattle except when getting the milk. Try Traders Joes or Whole Foods they are pretty knowledgeable.

Free range means that they get to wander around and are not in restricted pens. I suspect that your milk is coming from free range cows already! Just stay away from Veal!

Actually most dairy cows are free range, the ones that are used for meat are the ones they have penned and that is so they can gain more weight.

actually most cows that you buy your milk from do not walk around, they are helf in cells where they really can barely take a few steps.
