I personally question the credence of the Bible - I mean if I wrote a book and said it was divinely inspired would you believe me? But the fact that it contains text borrowed from a religion over 3000 years older than Christianity and is about 2000 years old itself somehow makes it absolute truth? Please....

So who wrote the Bible? Well, the founders of Jewish religion for the most part of the Old Testament. As for the New Testament, quite a lot is marked with an author but whether it was really written by them is another story.

1. The Bible is a precious gift from God. It is like a letter from a loving father to his children. It tells us the truth about God—who he is and what he stands for. It explains how to cope with problems and how to find true happiness. The Bible alone tells us what we must do to please God.—Psalm 1:1-3; Isaiah 48:17, 18.

2. The Bible was written by some 40 different men over a period of 1,600 years, beginning in 1513 B.C.E. It is made up of 66 little books. Those who wrote the Bible were inspired by God. They wrote his thoughts, not their own. So God in heaven, not any human on earth, is the Author of the Bible.—2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21.

3. God made sure that the Bible was accurately copied and preserved. More Bibles have been printed than any other book. Not everyone will be happy to see you studying the Bible, but do not let that stop you. Your eternal future depends on your getting to know God and doing his will despite any opposition.—Matthew 5:10-12; John 17:3.

No-one "wrote the Bible" as such. Various people in many times and places wrote a variety of texts including historical accounts, personal correspondence, poetry, instructional material, etc. The Catholic Church gathered together a large number of such writings, and its bishops, gathered in Council at the end of the 4th Century, discerned with the guidance of the Holy Spirit which of these many writings could be considered divinely inspired. The result was 73 texts which they bound into one book for the first time, and they called this book "the Book" - in Greek, "biblios". That's where the Bible came from. These 73 texts, nothing more nor less, constitutes the written Word of God.

Read the book of Genesis. Adam and Eve had more than just the 2 sons. Cain and Abel just happen to be the 2 most well-known of their sons.

When Cain was banished for murdering Abel he took one of his sisters with him as his wife.

The Bible was written down by some 40 different men over one thousand + years - but it was inspired by God.

The Bible (old testament) is a combination of fictional stories, apparently to teach something and not a realistic happening, and some actual accounts. For instance, the Creation story isn't intended to be taken fact-for-fact (heck, there are two completely different accounts just in Genesis). However, I do believe that the Exodus occurred similarly to how it is described in Jewish texts (not the Bible itself which is a poor translation). The books included, according to a program that was just on History Channel, were decided by Constantine or his scholars at his direction.

The New Testament is a compilation of stories written down over 100 years after the death of Jesus and attributed to the various Apostles. Inclusion was by political consensus. Words attributed to Jesus do appear to be consistent, so I tend to believe them, but given the mish-mash of translation and politics, it's hard to really decide if the rest is reasonable.

Who wrote the Bible?-A bunch of different guys. Edit: Around 40 different authors over a hundreds of years. Until the NT, it was written by a bunch of Jews who claimed inspiration by one deity-trying to make it by one author. The NT was written by a group of men who called themselves Christians-those books are dated to several different times, even more if the 'Gnostic Gospels' are included and some might be authored by females, including 'the Book of John'.
Where did the wife come from?-The Protestant version doesn't say but there's apparently a 'Book of Enoch' that says she was one of his sisters b/c Adam and Eve had several more children, after those two.

Who wrote the Bible” - is a question that is undoubtedly asked by many who are familiar with the impact this book has made on people around the world. The Bible gives guidance in our journey through life to eternity, as well as leads us to a relationship with the God of the universe. It is a historical book that is backed by archeology, and a prophetic book that has lived up to all of its claims thus far. In light of all these facts, asking, “who wrote the bible,” is a vital question that deserves serious investigation and a serious response. The Bible is God’s letter to humanity collected into 66 books written by 40 divinely inspired writers. These writers come from all walks of life (i.e., kings to fishermen) and spans over a period of 1,500 years or more. These claims may seem dramatic (or unrealistic to some), but a careful and honest study of the biblical scriptures will show them to be true.

2 Timothy 3:16 states that “All scripture is inspired by God….” In 2 Peter 1:20-21, Peter reminds the reader to “know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, … but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” The Bible itself tells us that it is God who is the author of His book.

The design of the Bible itself is a miracle. Written over more than 1,500 years by vastly different writers, yet every book in the Bible is consistent in its message. These 66 books talk about history, prophecy, poetry, and theology. Despite their complexity, differences in writing styles and vast time periods, the books of the Bible agree miraculously well in theme, facts and cross-referencing. No human beings could have planned such an intricate combination of books over a 1,500-year time span. Bible manuscripts (remember, there were no printing presses until 1455) have survived despite weather, persecution and time. Most ancient writings written on weak materials like papyrus have vanished all together. Yet many copies of the Old Testament scriptures survived. For instance, the Dead Sea Scrolls contain all books of the Old Testament, except Esther, and have been dated to before the time of Christ.

The Bible also validates its divine authorship through fulfilled prophecies. An astonishing 668 prophecies have been fulfilled and none have ever been proven false (three are unconfirmed). An honest study of biblical prophecy will compellingly show the divine authorship of the Bible. Further, archeology confirms (or in some cases supports) accounts in the biblical record. No other holy book comes close to the Bible in the amount of evidence supporting its divine authorship.

The 2 sons of Adam and Eve (Cain and Abel)

CAIN (many presumed as the first born of Adam and Eve) WAS NOT THE FIRST BORN of Adam and Eve. In fact the bible is silent on this matter as to who was the first born of the many children of Adam and eve.

The story narrative on Gen 4:1 revealed the following "And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD." (This might proved that Cain was the first male born by Adam and Eve of which the first born was probably a woman) Gen 4:2 "And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground."

The Bible does not say Cain found a wife! The Bible said Cain knew his wife, which means Cain did not find a wife when he went out from the presence of the Lord and live in the land of Nod (East of Eden). He was already married (knew his wife) when he settled there bringing along his wife.

Let us re-read the scriptures

Gen 4:16 " And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

Gen 4:17 And Cain KNEW HIS WIFE; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch."

This question should be a part of the drinking game!

Cain's wife was either a child of Adam and Eve that is not mentioned or perhaps God created other beings that are not mentioned in the text.

Men wrote it with God's inspiration. Moses, David, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul...just to name a few.

Adam & Eve had lots of kid, but only 3 sons are mentioned in the Bible. Adam & Eve's kids obviously had to marry/have kids with eachother.

The bible was written by many authors through inspiration from God. Adam and Eve also had daughters, so they started multiplying.
